Bernard B. Kerik, a former New York police commissioner, pleaded guilty to eight felonies in a Federal District Court in White Plains on Thursday morning. Mr. Kerik, who will be sentenced in February, faces 27 to 33 months in prison.Since Kerik used to say that he was looking forward to a trial and that he would fight the charges to the end, it'll be interesting if it ever comes out what prompted him to change his mind. If I had to guess, I'd suspect something along the lines of a combination of pretty damning evidence coupled with a promise of a greatly reduced sentence.
