Criticizing Government Policy is Now Defamatory to the Orange Blowhard?

That's his legal stance, or so it would seem.

President Donald Trump is threatening to sue a left-leaning think tank unless it retracts a report that said his National Guard deployments to various cities did not reduce crime as he said.

The letter gave the Washington, D.C.-based Center for American Progress until the end of business Friday to issue the retraction or face a $5 billion lawsuit. The center declined.

The nonprofit’s president and chief executive, Neera Tanden, said in a statement that the lawsuit “is a transparent attempt to silence us. We will neither cower nor bend in the face of it.”

The report, published July 13, criticized the administration for taking credit for a historic drop in violent crime at a time when that decline was already underway. The analysis concluded that Trump’s deployment of the National Guard “had no measurable effect on violent crime trends.”

One thing Delusional Donnie hasn't yet grasped: Claiming "financial harm" means that a victim of Trump's lawsuits gets to do financial discovery of Trump's affairs. Trump sued the BBC with the same bullshit claims and they're alreadly asking to depose Trump's family members and dig into his financial records.

As to "reputational harm", that's laughable. Most everyone outside of the MAGAts know what Trump is a fascist buffoon whose built his wealth on a longstanding pattern of fraud and deceit. If Putin is the richest corrupt leader on the face of the Earth, Trump is the richest fraudster and grifter. The CAP and the BBC didn't get Trump convicted on 34 felony counts of fraud, he did that all by himself.

Not Everyone Wants to Work For Quislings; Law Firm Ed.

Four top partners at Paul Weiss announced late Friday that they were leaving the law firm, a major blow to the firm in the wake of its decision to cut a deal with President Trump to head off an executive order that would have restricted its business.

The partners — Karen Dunn, Bill Isaacson, Jeannie Rhee and Jessica Phillips — will form their own law firm.

The corrollary for "who would want to hire a law firm which can't stand up for itself" is "who would want to work for such a firm"?

President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday said he will nominate Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida to serve as his attorney general, putting a loyalist in the role of the nation’s top prosecutor.

In selecting the congressman, Trump passed over some of the more established attorneys whose names had been mentioned as being contenders for the job.

“Matt will end Weaponized Government, protect our Borders, dismantle Criminal Organizations and restore Americans’ badly-shattered Faith and Confidence in the Justice Department,” Trump said in a statement.

Right, and if you believe any of that, you are most definitely stupider than you would appear to be. Gaetz's time in Congress, when he wasn't dodging investigations for having relationships with underage girls, was spent trying to investigate and persecute the enemies of Trump, both real and imagined.

Between his alleged penchant for pretty young things, like his orange idol, and his abject loyalty to same, I can see why he was the perfect pick.

Meanwhile, Commandante Bone Spurs is picking a defense secretary whose main qualification is jacking his jaws on Fox. He's picking Russia's girlfriend to be DNI. And, even more worrisome, he is looking to purge military officers who may be viewed as loyal to the Constitution and not him.

Wait for the day when the military will have to swear an oath to Trump. It's coming, folks.

If the Senate lets him appoint these turds, it will be clear to all that they are Trumpers, not Americans.

Why Hasn't the AG of MO Been Disbarred, Already?

That piece of shit in a suit has apparently decided that he can defy lawful orders of the courts.

A woman whose murder conviction was overturned after she served 43 years of a life sentence was released Friday, despite attempts in the last month by Missouri’s attorney general to keep her behind bars.

Sandra Hemme, 64, left a prison in Chillicothe, hours after a judge threatened to hold the attorney general’s office in contempt if they continued to fight against her release.

During a court hearing Friday, Judge Ryan Horsman said that if Hemme wasn’t released within hours, Bailey himself would have to appear in court Tuesday morning. He threatened to hold the attorney general’s office in contempt.
He also scolded Bailey’s office for calling the warden and telling prison officials not to release Hemme after he ordered her to be freed in her own recognizance. “I would suggest you never do that,” Horsman said, adding: “To call someone and tell them to disregard a court order is wrong.”

I'm going to bet that this isn't the first time he's told people that it's optional to obey court orders. That seems to be the way of so-called conservatives.

And, of course, it's happened again.
