Shorter Trump: It’s Only Dead Brown People

The US government on Wednesday expressed its condolences over the deadly floods in Nepal and promised to provide $500,000 in emergency assistance, the State Department said.

A half-million donation from the US government is fucking chicken feed and borderline insulting. Everyone other than MAGAts would completely understand if the Nepalese turned it down.

The Art of the Yield.

Trump took us into a war, blew through much of the stock of PGMs, got at least 13 American troops killed, hundreds wounded, killed hundreds of Iranian schoolgirls and what did he accomplish?
  • Iran agrees, as they did in the JCPOA, not to develop a nuclear weapon.
  • No inspection regimen to guarantee that, unlike the JCPOA.
  • Iran and Oman may have control (tolls, fees) of the Strait of Hormuz, which was prewar international waters.
  • Iran gets to import/export oil.
  • Iran gets sanctions relief.
  • Iran gets a $300 billion rebuilding fund, most of which, like Trump's ballroom, will be paid by American taxpayers.
  • US agrees to draw down, if not outright withdraw, forces from the Persian Gulf.

In a nutshell, the US is in a worse position than it was before Trump, Netanyahu and Hegseth began throwing bombs around.

What the world saw was a display of Trump's short attention span. He got bored with negotiations, listened to those other two fools that all we had to do was bomb a bunch of stuff and Iran would give in, then he got bored when the Iranians didn't surrender. And it seems clear that the possibility that the stock market would crater haunts him. Not that he cares about the cost of gas or groceries, just the stock market.

It took the Taliban and the Vietnamese each avout eighteen years to outlast the U.S. It took the Iranians less than four months to outlast Trump.

Somebody is going to get thrown under the bus for what everyone outside of the MAGAverse is recognizing as a massive geopolitical defeat. Since Trump never takes the blame for anything, the betting prediction websides are probably offering odds.

A Thuggish Version of Amateur Hour

There may not be confirmation, yet, but this sort of macho adolescent bullshit would be what one would expect from Pretty-Boy Pete. And if this is true, the Trump Administration is actively sabotaging our relationships with every other country on the planet (except Russia).

The Orange Piggy Will Outdo Neville Chamberlain

Reading the tea leaves from his phone call with Dictator Xi and that they are going to exchange visits suggests to me that the Orange Piglet is going to sell out Taiwan.

He won't care, but his party might be nervous that a Chinese invasion of Taiwan with tacit consent from Trump will cost them mightily in future elections.

As to the rest of the world, they'll trust America's word as though it was written on flash paper.

Donnie's Butthurt Tariff

This is from the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977, which the (mal)Administration is relying on as legal authority for the tariffs he's levying on the entire globe:

Any authority granted to the President by section 1702 of this title may be exercised to deal with any unusual and extraordinary threat, which has its source in whole or substantial part outside the United States, to the national security, foreign policy, or economy of the United States, if the President declares a national emergency with respect to such threat.

50 USC 35 Ch.35, Sec.1701b. Nowhere in the IEEPA (sections 1701-1707) does a president have the authority to levy tariffs on another country because his feelings are hurt.

Pissing Off Friends and Making Enemies

Noem's battery plant raid may have major repercussions. The Korean workers' stories of their barbaric treatment are being well-covered there.

Since the 330 workers arrested in an immigration raid at a Hyundai-LG battery plant under construction in Georgia returned to Korea on Friday, many have begun to speak out about the human rights violations they were subjected to during custody.

Testimonies made public on Sunday showed that the detention center failed to meet any of the UN Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners, also known as the Mandela Rules, when it came to hygiene, contact with the outside world, complaints regarding treatment, and providing information on circumstances.
...
Hands bound to their waists, they had to bow their heads to lap up water to quench their thirst. When using the toilet, they were only given a piece of fabric to cover their lower bodies, as there were no private stalls. Almost no sunlight came in through the “window,” which was nothing more than a fist-sized hole in the wall, and they were only allowed to go outside for two hours a day to wander around a tiny yard.
...
Early on in their incarceration, the workers were crammed into a temporary detention center, which was a room that could house 72 people. A worker’s account made public by Yonhap News Agency described the facility as having rows of bunk beds with moldy mattresses. Hygiene products such as toothpaste, toothbrushes and blankets appear only to have been provided on their second day of detention. Workers wrapped themselves in their towels to protect themselves from the chilly air. The stench in the water prevented many from quenching their thirst, and the only food the workers received came in the form of canned beans and toast.

The Administration is basically trying to apologize without having to apologize to South Korea for treating their citizens as though they were Hispanics. Trump delayed the repatriation of the Korean workers to try and persuade them to stay and continue working and, with one exception, they declined.

The Administration seems to be bent on making everybody in the world hate this country. After this, why would any foreign company set up an American plant when their installation crews would run the risk of being arrested by the mouthbreathers of the ICEstapo?

And Americans in South Korea might want to be careful about running afoul of the law.

Our Reverse King Midas

Everything Trump touches turns to shit.

Chinese leader Xi Jinping told India’s Narendra Modi the “right choice” is for their countries to be friends as the two met in China for first time in seven years – a new milestone in a nascent rapprochement between the world’s most populous nations accelerated by shared frictions with the United States.

Working with India as a counterweight to China has been American foreign policy for a long time. China and India have been fighting a low-grade border war for decades, so it would seem to be an easy thing to work with India to oppose Chinese desires to form an Asian hegemony.

But Trump has blown that up. His excuse du jour, that India is buying Russian oil, is bullshit. Other countries import oil from Russia and they're not targeted for punitive tariffs.

The reason that the Orange Dementia Case is blowing up relations with India is personal. He wants a Nobel Peace Prize more than almost anything. So he's going around, spinning fantastic tales about all the wars he's stopped and prevented. He's claimed to have prevented a war between Pakistan and India, which the Indian government says is not true. Trump told Modi directly that he (Fat Orange Blob) had brokered the ceasefire and Modi told him that wasn't true. Modi said publicly that he wouldn't back Corporal Bonespurs for a Nobel and things went downhill from there.

So a friend of this country is being turned into an advesary, all because the World's Oldest Syphilitic Toddler suffered a case of butthurt.

Everything he touches turns to shit.

Trump Got Played, Bigly

And even Fox News can't hide it.

Fox News Reporter Jacqui Heinrich: The way that it felt in the room was not good. It did not seem like things went well. And it seemed like Putin came in and steam rolled, got right into what he wanted to say and got his photo next to the president and then left

Color me both "unsurprised" and "disappointed". Maybe it was unrealistic as fuck to hope that Trump migt, for once, actually pull off a good result.

But here we are. All he produced was hype, spin and bullshit.

Same Shit, Different Day.

Trump is One Steaming, Vile Piece of Shit

President Trump on Wednesday signed an executive order raising tariffs on imports from Brazil to 50 percent, escalating his fight with the largest South American economy.

The order Trump signed declares a national emergency under a 1977 law he has used to justify his imposition of sweeping tariffs since taking office in January. It increases the existing 10 percent tariff on Brazil to 50 percent, citing Brazil’s “unusual and extraordinary policies and actions harming U.S. companies, the free speech rights of U.S. persons, U.S. foreign policy, and the U.S. economy.”

Except that is one steaming pile of lies. The US has a trade surplus with Brazil. The only thing that Brazil is doing is prosecuting Trump's best buddy, Jair Bolsonaro, for trying to do what Trump also tried to do: Stage a violent coup to overturn a free and fair election.

President da Silva has more guts and drive than did Joe Biden and Merrick Garland, in that da Silva is vigorously going after the head of the coup attempt. Here, well, we all know how they dithered and stumbled and fiddle-fucked around.

Coup Plotters of a Feather, Stick Together,
Plus
MAGA Hates Superman

President Donald Trump singled out Brazil for import taxes of 50% on Wednesday for its treatment of its former president, Jair Bolsonaro, showing that personal grudges rather than simple economics are a driving force in the U.S. leader’s use of tariffs.

Trump avoided his standard form letter with Brazil, specifically tying his tariffs to the trial of Bolsonaro, who is charged with trying to overturn his 2022 election loss. Trump has described Bolsonaro as a friend and hosted the former Brazilian president at his Mar-a-Lago resort when both were in power in 2020.

Of course the Premier J6 Plotter is looking out for other coup plotters. One might also presume that if the former leader of another country is accused of rape, that our Sexual-Offender-in-Chief will put tariffs on that country.

Meanwhile, the MAGA Right is getting into a frenzy over Superman because he's an immigrant. Maybe those white-sheet-wearing snowflakes ought to get a fucking clue. Being an alien has been Superman's origin story since Action Comics #1, but the MAGA-lunatics love to forget everything that contradicts their Fox-News-generated worldview.

Shall we recap? Kal-El is an illegal immigrant/refugee from another planet, he came here without a visa, he snuck over the border, and he stands for truth, justice, and the American way.

Of course the Right hates him.

Let's See of a Treaty Signed by The United States is Worth the Paper it's Printed On

In 1916, the United States bought the Danish West Indies, now known as the U.S.Virgin Islands, for $25 million. As part of the deal, the Americans agreed not to object to Denmark's claim to Greenland.

Of course, Mango Mussolini, like his ideologial inspiration, hasn't met a deal that he wasn't willing to tear up. It'd be fun if the Danes then snuck troops into St. Thomas and reoccupied the place.

Military Chiefs of the Free World Meet

Without the United States, which more and more is viewed as a Russian ally.

More than 30 army chiefs among Washington's closest allies met in Paris on Tuesday without their U.S. counterparts, seeking to take on more responsibility over the Ukraine war given President Donald Trump's unpredictability and rapprochement with Moscow.

There was a time when such a meeting without American participation would have been inconceivable. But now? Not so much.

"America first" is shaping up to be "America alone".

Heckuva job, Trumpie.

Trump’s Mafia-Grade Extortion.

"Nice country you have here. Be a shame if something happened to it.

Trump was demanding that Ukraine sign over its resources with nothing offered in return. He must think everyone else is as addled as he is.

His negotiating skill is similarly deficient. His people are taking stuff off the table before the first session, and it's only stuff that the Russians might have had to give up.

The MR Old Felon is either a Russian asset or he's truly deranged in the membrane.
