Sage Advice re: "Hate the Sin, Love the Sinner."

Here's the thing you need to remember: All those people who tell you that homosexuality is a sin, but they love you? They don't. They think you are a lesser form of life.

Gene then linked to this story about the three American evangelical preachers who were instrumental in persuading the Ugandan government to make being gay a capital crime (and who are now trying to cover up their involvement). One of the three asswipes involved, a turd named Don Schmierer, made the classic statement of bigots:

“Some of the nicest people I have ever met are gay people.”

Sure he does, and I bet he has gay people over for Sunday brunch all the fucking time.

I cannot begin to express the level of disgust and contempt I have for those guys in the Christian Taliban and their ilk. They are below contempt and I would be happy never to have to have ever mentioned their existence. I have not the slightest bit of doubt that they would all fully support similar legislation being enacted in this country. It is only the amount of blowback over their involvement in Uganda which has caused them to try and walk it back. Otherwise, they'd be happy as clams to see gay people strung up.

Gene Weingarten is right.
