US to lift 21-year ban on haggis.
Haggis is made from what a deer hunter would call "the gut pile", which is left in the forest for scavengers to feast upon. It was probably invented by the French.

NOoooo!
Next they'll be legalizing bagpipes!
I'm SHOCKED that you don't appreciate the fine cuisine of my ancestors.
Drink enough single-malt with it, and you end up deodorizing and anesthetizing...
My three brothers and my da' LOVE it, and so does my husband.
I'll only eat it on special family occasions like Burns Night.
Lovely.
Do we export chitlins to Scotland?
The date of the announcement was appropriate -- just in time for Burns' Supper, at which it is a traditional food.
Address To a Haggis
Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face,
Great chieftain o' the puddin-race!
Aboon them a' ye tak your place,
Painch, tripe, or thairm:
Weel are ye wordy o' a grace
As lang's my arm.
(etc.)

Cranky, drink enough single-malt and even okra can taste good.
Misfit, the only thing okra needs to make it taste good is tomatoes and peas. You damnyankees (one word to us Southerners) just don't know how to cook the stuff ;).

EBM,
It takes about a quart of everclear to kill enough taste buds to make okra taste good
Nothing wrong with okra; good gumbo is impossible without it. And my okra pickles are quite good; I use a bit of garlic and tabasco peppers in the pickling brine.
