I wouldn't worry about it for three reasons. First of all, oil has been leaking through cracks in the sea bed in the Gulf of Mexico and the Black Sea since before homo sapiens walked the earth. The primary ingredient of Greek fire was oil skimmed from the Black Sea by Byzantine sailors. Second, there are microbes that 'eat' crude oil by converting the hydrocarbons to carbohydrates. To prevent these microbes jet fuel is treated with BioBor or similar products. Third, oil slicks look much worse than they are, refer to Table 2 here.
