It was a Boeing 307 "Stratoliner",
Not to be confused, though I do, with the far more common "Stratocruiser".
I think Jimmy Buffet has some connection with this boat - it was featured in one of his novels, forget which one.
I used to work for its first owner, so I'll sit this one out...
