It is Illegal To Listen to This Song in Canada

"Money for Nothing" by Dire Straits

Seems that the Canadian censors say the use of the word "faggot" is offensive to one hypersensitive Newfie, so they've banned the song.

Nice to see that the Canadians have their analogues to the wackos in this country who have made much of broadcast television into meaningless pablum.

Err, the uncensored version is banned on *radio*, and it's been banned on *US* radio since it was released in 1982, I remember clearly listening to it on the U.S. radio (which substituted another "yoyos" for the "faggot") and then watching the MTV version (which was the as-recorded version) and thinking, "huh, that's interesting." Maybe you weren't watching MTV or listening to FM radio when the song came out?

In any event, Canadian radio will now have to use the same censored version as American radio has always had to use. The horror, oh the horror! (Penguin fans himself, looks for fainting couch to recuse himself to).

I'm pretty certain I heard the original version on the radio.

I know I've heard the uncut version on the radio. Had the vinyl too.

Actually it's fine to hear it in Cn your not allowed to play it. However if a border station plays it..
