Prime Minister Stephen Harper has returned to Ottawa a day after Canadians elected his Conservative Party to form its first majority government.Prime Minister Harper says that he won't make radical changes. Yeah, and pigs will fly. He's lying. He's reading from the same playbook that Bush and Cheney used.
I should feel sorry for the Canadians, but on one level, I really don't. At least this should end the smugness of "well, we'd never elect neocons" that I've been hearing for the last 12 years.
Now you have. Now you can stand by for a government that will attempt to weaken environmental rules so corporations can befoul your air and water for profit. You can look forward to a meaner and more spiteful government that will cut services to working and poor Canadians so that rich Canadians can get more tax cuts. You can watch as your corporate CEOs discover the joy of unalloyed personal greed, heedless of what damage they may do to their companies in the process. You Canadians can look forward to a more robust national security apparatus and a slow dismantling of the health care system that you have taken much pride in.

Damn you EB, you're right. he is a Teabagger through and through....Allan... Now I can't be smug, wait, yes I can...we still have evil socialized health care....lol
Not for long, Allan, not for long.
And the greed will trickle down to the bottom...same as it has done here
You never heard that smugness from me. I've been watching this lurch down the road toward me for years. Political culture in Canada seems to lag American by 5-10 years, and now it's our turn to have a long dark night of the soul from which we will probably not recover.
Sometimes it's no fun being right.
This will take some time to straighten out, but the day will come.
We'll send up the guillotines when we're done with them. You want them cleaned off, or with the stains?
Our science minister is a Creationist:(
Allan, and so will go your educational system.
Nangleator, we can make sure that they are lubricated and in good working order, but definitely, with stains.
