The Aereon 26
The Aereon 26 was featured in the book The Deltoid Pumpkin Seed. It was described as a hybrid-lifting body. The engine was a 92hp two-stroke motor. The Aereon 26 flew some test flights 40 years ago, it was then stored and as far as I can tell, it has not flown since that time.
It is still on the FAA register.
UPDATE: A profile of William Miller, who has been behind the Aereon Corp. for almost fifty years.

Thanks for posting the image. I enjoyed that book (as I have nearly everything McPhee has written), but never had a clear mental image of this flying machine. And never thought to search a picture out for myself.
It is in New Jersey. Near Lakehurst, maybe?

"Yet, at the age of 83, Miller keeps fighting. He’s part of a research consortium with the University of Maryland that’s applying for funds for a WASP/DynASTOL development program. He’s also looking for a home (and philanthropic support) for the original Aereon 26, which still sits quietly in a New Jersey hangar."
