A Hasidic newspaper got into the business of revisionist history Friday when it printed a Situation Room photo that was doctored to remove Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.Rather Stalinistic of them.
The photograph was released by the White House with the following imprimatur: “This official White House photograph is being made available only for publication by news organizations and/or for personal use printing by the subject(s) of the photograph. The photograph may not be manipulated in any way and may not be used in commercial or political materials, advertisements, e-mails, products, promotions that in any way suggests approval or endorsement of the President, the First Family, or the White House.”Didn't even slow them down a whit. I don't know what inane religious rationale would support this bit of historical editing and I'm pretty sure that I don't really care. In a world of boneheaded religious moves, this one is fairly high on the charts.
The Daily News gave credit to a blogger for breaking this story.

There's a woman in the background that got clipped, as well.
My wife is furious. I told her not to date any hasidic jews.
Unfortunately these ultra-orthodox jerks are wagging the tail that is Israel too. I've heard stories of women wearing what the ultra-orthodox consider to be "immodest dress" who've been spat upon and worse by the Jewish Taliban, though thankfully none of the acid-in-the-face that the real Taliban do in that case. Not to mention forcing women to sit at the back of the bus and harassing women who pray in a manner they don't agree with.
Organized religion. Bah, humbug. All it's ever been useful for is persecution, and women have certainly been one of the most heavily persecuted groups whenever organized religion gets a toehold in public life. Just look here in the U.S. where the American Taliban are trying their darndest to get abortion illegal again, and then are all set to go after birth control (because the sluts shouldn't be having sex if they don't want babies, y'know?).

Jaysus, the only two women in a historic picture.
I'll hold the asshole down and you you can kick that motherfucker in the balls until you can't stand up anymore.
I think it is broader than religion. You can find extremists in any grouping. The Ayn Rand cultists versus pure communists, for example.
The problem with religion is that religions are belief-based ("fact-free") zones and those who believe the most tend to gravitate towards positions of authority. And the cults then form.
Reminds me of a line from some forgotten movie:
"Hasidim - but I don't believe 'em."
Right-wingers are the same the world over. Retarded and dangerous.
Retarded, dangerous, and anti-woman. Seems to go together when talking about right-wing extremists. Folks who let right-wing extremists run their country either are morons, or are dangerous themselves. Or both.
