As I noted before, President Obama has said that he wants to reach out more to the GOP.
If Obama had the political instincts of a LBJ or a Clinton, I wouldn't be worried. If he did, then I could be reasonably confident that he was setting a trap for them. If the Republicans wouldn't play ball, then he would beat the living shit out of them on the campaign trail.
But I see no sign that he has that degree of political/street/killer instinct. I fear that the GOP is going to continue to eat his lunch and we may possibly be stuck with Bible Spice as the next half-term president.

Ah, my eternal optimist keeps sayin' that he will come to his senses, throw a flag and call "BULLSHIT!"
I can't believe that he continues to be so civil to these people who hate him. They've questioned his parentage, his citizenship, religious beliefs, honesty and integrity. They've insulted his wife and children. Those who haven't publicly uttered the words have given a nod and a wink (nudge, nudge) to those who have.
It's time for Mr. Obama to throw a couple of elbows of his own (including a few to his own "team") and stop with this "my bad" crap.
.......... just sayin'
He is in his senses right now. That's the problem. Expecting him to man up, or whatever expression you want to use for summoning his courage, assumes that he wants to do the right thing. He doesn't. He told people that quite clearly both through his words and actions before he had to appeal to enough Democratic voters to get the nomination. Then he lied, and enough marks, ur, voters, believed him to get him the nomination.
He believes what the GOP and conservative Democrats do about economics - the same trickle down, magical market nonsense that the Chicago School has been peddling for the last forty years.
He's not going to summon his courage on this issue, because it's going just the way he wants it to.
