Meh. I'm still waiting for my postcard from the FAA - my N number starts with "9" and I hear they're doing it in sorted order.
The renewal is a one time thing, $5 IIRC. Not a big deal.
I'm more mad about the proposal to put pictures on the pilot certificate - which would cause it to expire every 8 years ( as opposed to "never", as it does now ) to be renewed in person at the FSDO/DPE for $22
