Brushing past Democratic opposition, President Barack Obama announced agreement with Republicans Monday night on a plan to extend expiring income tax cuts for all Americans, renew jobless benefits for the long-term unemployed and grant a one-year reduction in Social Security taxes. So Our Preznit let the GOP hold the unemployed hostage to continuing to give the rich large tax breaks. Good fuckin' job, Barry!
The Bush tax cuts broke the Federal budget, yet the self-styled "deficit hawks" in the party of the Confederacy insisted on retaining them. Everybody in Washington is screaming that Social Security is in trouble, but then they agree to cut tax revenues for Social Security?
How does any of this shit make any degree of rational sense to anyone with an IQ above the freezing point of benzene?

How is he so craven and cooperative when it comes to his mortal enemies, and so resolute and courageous in the face of his supporters?
Makes no sense to me. Very frustrating.
To Obama, the Progressive Caucus is the opposition. You need to start from that perspective when you try to figure out what makes sense. He has the Blue Dogs, the DLC, and the Republicans on his side when it comes to economic issues. All he has to do is lean on the progressives so that he doesn't have to worry about whether enough Republicans will support him.
BTW, for the purposes of this discussion, consider the HCR bill an economic measure. In the end, that's about what it was, anyway.
Well as much as I would like to join fail to the chief, listening to Randi Rhodes gave me pause
1) He made a moral decision to get the unemployed their due
2) It's Not like the republicans were going to give on tax cuts for the bloated rich
3) We still believe in compromise, yes I want him to be more pointed in his criticism of the NO people, but I think he did what he had to do, we ALL KNOW the republicans wanted the unemployed to starve
