I'm not sure what you mean by "coverup" here. They admit that the soldier died, and have identified the physical cause of death.
I'm sure the details will be released when appropriate.
It's interesting, how many female soldiers have been mysteriously dying of gunshot wounds to the head in secure areas lately. Fragging, anybody? Some testosterone-filled 18 year old taking out his frustrations on a "ball buster" who won't have sex with him? Naw, nothing like that EVER happens, nossiree, every single soldier of ours overseas is brave and honorable, even the Los Angeles gang members who signed up on "moral waivers"...

You mean like they did in the Pat Tillman matter?
You mean like they did in the Pat Tillman matter?
Well, yeah, exactly. We know the truth of the matter now: Tillman died from friendly fire.
I would suspect, ignorant as I may be, that the female soldier died because of improper weapons handling by another soldier. Our soldiers, sadly, aren't really properly educated on proper weapons handling.
Actually, I shouldn't say that: I'm sure they are educated, but the lessons don't always stick.
Back in '03 or '04 a buddy of mine came back from Iraq. He's a fellow "gun nut" but certainly not to my level. My brother threw him a little grilling party at my parent's place. When I got there I said, "Hey, check this out, it's pretty neat." pulled out my Kel-Tec P3AT, dropped the mag, unchambered the live round, and handed it to him. The dude just spent a year in Iraq, weapons should be perfectly normal for him and the last time he was home we sat at the range behind his house (private property range) and blew through 500-1000 rounds of ammo. His response:
"Jesus! You keep a round chambered? I was in Iraq and we didn't do that with our M9's. One time a guy shot the clearing barrel so we all stopped chambering rounds."
I tried to explain why it was safe (the P3AT is DAO) and that is M9 is also DA on the first shot, but he'd have none of that: and he's a gun guy!
Sadly, our soldiers kinda suck at weapons handling. Releasing further details will probably put the "idiot" mark on some guy while he's still in country. I'm not sure that would be a good thing.
