New Heater Update - V

(Last post)

I took the gun to the range this morning to sight it in. The elevation adjustment screw is frozen. Between this gun and the last one, I now have four failed trips to the range to sight in new S&W Model 66-8s.

Am I kicking myself for not buying a 3" GP100 or a Colt King Cobra? You can bet your motherfucking ass on that, pally.

The 3" GP100 is a sweet-shooting wheel gun for sure. I owned a couple of 686's when they were first released and ended up trading them both off, a bad mistake. As for the elevation screw, that's just messed up and shouldn't have happened. I'd be wanting the entire rear sight assy replaced.

That's what I've asked for. Anyway, I do have a 4" 686 that's a fine gun.

Again, I'm totally ignorant about guns, but isn't that bizarre? Far more complex machines, like cars for example, generally work correctly from the beginning. You don't live atop an ancient Indian burial ground, do you?

It is bizarre. It tells me that S&W has a QC problem with its new-production revolvers.

Wow. I guess they do.

Yes, but did it shoot at all without locking up?

For problems of that level and frequency QC is nonexistent
effectively or at best purely cosmetic checks.

Eck, I don't know. I terminated sighting in after nine shots (to get the windage dialed in).
