I had the TV on this morning. Some Republican congressman was bleating about how we've had nothing but trouble from the Iranian regime since 1979 and that we've been in pretty much a state of war with them for 47 years.

That was a pretty good encapsulation of why we're never going to be free of this mess, because morons like that worthy either don't know of our past history with Iran and don't understand that the problems stem from the last time we executed regime change there in 1953.

Now we're going to try and do assassinations and regime change by bombing? What lunatic comes up with that idea?

Meanwhile, Trump has set two precedents that might come back to haunt him:

1. It is OK to use the military to assassinate national leaders, and 
2. Former presidents can be compelled to testify, under oath.

#2 may be the route to finally clap his orange ass in the pokey. But we shall see,

A Bit of Trigger-Happiness

The U.S. military used a laser Thursday to shoot down a “seemingly threatening” drone flying near the U.S.-Mexico border. It turned out the drone belonged to Customs and Border Protection, lawmakers said.

Whiskey Pete's boys seem to be a little trigger-happy. My guess is that he's given order to kill first and ask questions later. Because that's the sort of ghoul that he is.

CBP uses Predator (MQ-9B) drones, so that's about $34 million or so that was needlessly blown to bits.

Hoax

Trump has been claiming, recently, that he's been "exonerated" and anything tying him to Epstein is a hoax.

The thing is, he's in the Epstein Files something like 38,000 times and reports keep surfacing of more and more documents that Bondi's Legal Department keeps trying to hide, but traces are being found. Even Repubicans are not buying his line about a hoax and are demanding full and absolute disclosure.

So if Trump has been lying about the Epstein Files being a hoax, then that begs the question: Was he lying about other things being a hoax?

I have been persuaded, all along, that Putin has kompromat on Trump. It's how those goons operate. But it's also possible that Trump is just stupid, that he believes Putin's lies because Putin fluffs Trump's ego.

Trump used to claim that he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and not lose any votes. But, as someone else said, he's now so unpopular that he could do that any not lose any more votes.

His unpopularity is scaring him to the point that he's seriously considering stealing the 2026 election in plain sight:

Imagine President Obama doing that. The Tea Party would have been out with their rifles. And as well they should have. States run elections, not the federal government. I Don't Know What Happened Off Cuba

A speedboat carrying 10 people approached Cuba’s north shore and opened fire on Cuban soldiers when they confronted the vessel, according to the Caribbean island’s government.

Troops returned fire, killing four people and wounding six others who were detained Wednesday after the encounter.

The Ministry of the Interior said the people in the boat were Cubans living in the U.S. and accused them of trying to infiltrate the country to unleash terrorism. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said it was not a U.S. government operation.

But I know two things:

Trump Loses Bigly, For Once

The Supreme Court struck down President Donald Trump’s far-reaching global tariffs on Friday, handing him a significant loss on an issue crucial to his economic agenda.

The 6-3 decision centers on the tariffs Trump unilaterally imposed under an emergency powers law, including the sweeping “reciprocal” tariffs levied on nearly every other country.

It’s the first major piece of Trump’s broad agenda to come squarely before the nation’s highest court, which he helped shape with the appointments of three conservative jurists in his first term.

The majority found that the Constitution “very clearly” gives Congress the power to impose taxes, which include tariffs. “The Framers did not vest any part of the taxing power in the Executive Branch,” Chief Justice John Roberts wrote.

Of course, the three hard-core fascists (Thomas, Alito, Kavanaugh) wanted to continue prostrating the Constitution to Trump. But this time, they lost. The decision, concurrences and dissents run to something like 170 PDF pages, and I am not about to read all of that shit for free.

No doubt that Trump and his allies are pitching fits right now.

Whether refunds will now issue (over $100 billion) is an open question. And a bit of global trade has evolved so that, where possible, some goods are avoiding the American market. Raw/medium level materials are going to factories outside of the US so they don't get hit with Trump's taxes. That probably won't change for years. Anyone Who Believes DHS's Lies on This Airplane Has Rocks For Brains

An executive jet the Department of Homeland Security has told the White House’s Office of Management and Budget it needs for immigrant deportation flights and Cabinet officials’ travel features a bedroom with a queen bed, showers, a kitchen, four large flat-screen TVs and even a bar, according to images of the aircraft obtained by NBC News.

DHS recently began leasing the Boeing 737 Max 8, which DHS officials have described as a luxury jet, but now Immigration and Customs Enforcement is seeking approval from OMB to purchase it for $70 million, according to two DHS officials involved in the request. ICE told OMB that it would be used for deportations and travel for Cabinet officials, the two officials said.

Anyone with a smidgen of sense will know that that airplane will make, at most, one flight with a few deportees so DHS can claim that's what they use it for.

There's only one "Cabinet offical" at DHS. This airplane is her personal flying fuck-palace so she can screw her boyfriend's brains out beyond the prying eyes of everyone.

The Kavanaugh Memorial

The memorial for Renee Good, who was killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, was set on fire Tuesday night, a Minneapolis City Council member said.

Jason Chavez, who represents the area where Good was killed, said someone poured gasoline on a fenced part of the memorial at 33rd Street and Portland Avenue.

The Minneapolis Police Department said someone set fire to a pile of wood, and the fire was extinguished by the time officers arrived around 8:45 p.m. No one was injured, but several items at the memorial site were damaged.

"This is despicable," Chavez wrote in a social media post.

Neighbors and observers worked to extinguish the fire, according to Chavez.

No one has been arrested, police said, and the fire is under investigation.
