Anthropic is Evil. Prove Me Wrong.

Job postings and interviews with senior security officials at Anthropic show that the frontier AI lab is building out an extensive monitoring system to keep tabs on activists who oppose the rapid development of artificial intelligence.

In addition to monitoring activists in the vicinity of Anthropic executives and keeping tabs on protests near physical Anthropic assets, the firm is also implementing a “pre-crime” approach, attempting to predict incidents before they happen. In some cases, that also means reporting suspects to police before a crime occurs.

So what they are doing is reporting people who don't like Anthropic to the cops without providing any evidence that they have done anything wrong.

Anthropic is proving the truth in the supposition that all corporations are sociopathic entities.

Anyone who is hassled by the cops because of anything to do with AI needs to file a freedom of information request, sue them if necessary and then sue the pants off of Anthropic.

Meanwhile, Anthroic isn't the only entity adopting a "pre-crime" approach. Those jackboot-wearing fascists at the Border Patrol are doing the same.

Google and Apple are Knee-Bending Cowards

From Google Maps:

From Apple Maps:

Mapquest hasn't buckled under:

Which is why they're the number-one app on Apple's app store.

Google should have a new logo:

Apple, which used to say "think different", now has a different mindset:

None of this is surprising. Most companies these days are gutless amoral monsters owned by billionaire oligarchs who will do whatever it takes to make a buck. There is likely not a single executive left at Apple or Google who would not do anything but applaud if the ICEstapo shoved their neighbors into unmarked vans.

The message to the rest of the world is clear, if they choose to hear it: Do not trust American tech companies.

Fuck Flock, Uber and Lyft

Flock wants to use Uber and Lyft vehicles to create a roving surveillance network.

Flock is evil. Full stop. It has been abused by snooping cops and thugs in Texas seeking to enforce their abortion ban nationwide.

Thursday Morning Tab Clearing

AI may be good for some comedy:

Meanwhile, it is being alleged that the companies involved in AI are hiding huge amounts of debt in the same way that Enron did.

It’s an extremely costly undertaking built on seemingly bottomless hype — and a mountain of debt. As Japanese financial newspaper Nikkei Asia found in a recent investigation, just five US tech giants — Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, and Oracle — are hiding an estimated $1.65 trillion in debt that doesn’t appear on balance sheets. That’s even more than the $1.35 trillion in debt the five companies officially reported in their financial data for the most recent quarter.

Meta alone has amassed around $420 billion in off-balance-sheet debt, according to Nikkei, highlighting how precarious the AI industry’s steep investment in AI has become, and inspiring comparisons to energy company Enron, which collapsed in spectacular fashion in 2001 because of similar debts hidden behind shell companies. Like Enron, they’re using special purpose vehicles, or off-balance sheet arrangements such as legally distinct subsidiaries, as a way to make their financial reporting look healthier than it actually is — often a glaring sign that something is deeply amiss behind the scenes.

We'll see if our largely corporate-owned media covers this. It's probably a good bet that you won't see a mention of it on CBS or in the WaPo. When the AI bubble bursts, it could be bad.

Elsewhere, Julie DiCarlo, a reporter, posted this:

It's funny how many men come into my mentions to "protect women's sports" but have zero other posts talking about women's sports, or even women, in any kind of meaningful or supportive way.

— Julie DiCaro (@juliedicaro.bsky.social) July 29, 2026 at 8:58 PM

She is exactly right. Trump and the rest of his ilk have done nothing to support women's sports, other than requiring genital checks. They've been ramming through anti-abortion laws that have essentially required doctors to let women having problem pregancies die. And they haven't scrapped Blanche's nomination because of his active role in hiding All Things Epstein.

ICE Concentration Camps

Department of Homeland Security plans to purchase and operate mega warehouses to use as immigration detention centers are raising concerns among lawmakers, local residents and government contractors in the running to operate them.

Concerns about utilities, labor, removing large buildings from local tax bases, I get that. But, to my thoughts, those are petty concerns.

First, let's face the fact: Those warehouses are roofed-over concentration camps. DHS likes them because they are completely out of sight. The evil fuckery that goes on is largely undetectable. But it's not as though we don't know what is going on. Bad food, poor conditions, lack of medical care, denial of basic rights, those are all known knowns. Anybody in this country who is not aware of those facts is as culpable as the Germans who didn't pay attention to the smoke and the stink from their concentration camps.

Second: Fair notice to the people who are signing up to run and work in the DHS Gulag Achipelago: The rest of us will know who you are. You may be called to account, legally and/or socially, for doing that work. You will be regarded, for the rest of your lives, as the American analogue to the Black-and-Tans, thugs who were poorly-trained than and are now. Having worked for ICE will be regarded by the majority of people as something akin to having done time for serial child abuse.

Third: To the companies and contractors, you will not be regarded kindly. Working for you will be a badge of shame. You will be as well-regarded as a company that processed dead puppies for their fur. You can change your name to Princess Sparkle's Hospitality Services, but just like Constellis Services, we will know who you truly are and what evil you did.

Reverse King Midas at Work, Plus More!

Everything Trump, the Bizarro King Midas, touches turns to shit:

Meanwhile, it is also bizarre that the Chinese Communist Party cares more about automobile safety than does the DOT:

China will ban hidden door handles on cars, commonly used on Tesla’s electric vehicles and many other EV models, starting next year.

All car doors must include a mechanical release function for handles, except for the tailgate, according to details released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Monday
.

Tesla, on the other hand, is happy to re-enact the Apollo 1 fire with its customers playing the astronauts.

Deny and Delay

Watch this story about how health insurance companies, particularly United HealthCare, fucks over people:

And if that doesn't make you want to chip into the Luigi Mangione legal defense fund, you might want to ask why that's so.

Trump's Trashing of the Economy

One person's opinion, focusing on Ford Motor Co.

Everybody in a position of power is terrified that the World's Angriest Toddler will do something to them.

The Craven Broadcasting Company Bends Its Knee, Again

CBS is canceling “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” next May, shuttering a decades-old TV institution in a changing media landscape and removing from air one of President Donald Trump’s most prominent and persistent late-night critics.

Thursday’s announcement followed Colbert’s criticism on Monday of a settlement between Trump and Paramount Global, parent company of CBS, over a “60 Minutes” story.
...
In his Monday monologue, Colbert said he was “offended” by the $16 million settlement reached by Paramount, whose pending sale to Skydance Media needs the Trump administration’s approval. He said the technical name in legal circles for the deal was “big fat bribe
.”

So, CBS cancels the number-one show in its timeslot and says that it's a "business decision".... yeah, right. Tell me another one. Things haven't changed at that cowardly network since they canceled the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.

The Administration of the Syphilitic Felon has been politicizing the supposedly independent FCC; CBS is so afraid that the World's Oldest Toddler will have a fit of pique and mess with the Paramount-Skydance deal because he doesn't like what Colbert says each night.

Look for Comedy Central to engage in similar acts of political purity to try and stave off the childish wrath of the Demented Führer.

Also, this:

The #1 way to explain America working properly is by saying “comedians can make fun of he President on TV.” A good way to explain fascism is “the President forces companies to fire those comedians as a condition of allowing them to conduct business.”

They might as well run the local news at 11 (or 10), play the National Anthem, show the T-38 flying to a recitation of "High Flight" and then go dark until it's time for the farm report at 4am.

The Tariff Airplane

Tariffing everything isn't going to go well for the 787:

A Culture of Cowardice

Capitol Hill Republicans, corporate America and White House allies are terrified about what’s next in President Donald Trump’s escalating trade war. But they fear Trump’s wrath even more.

The tariffs may be illegal, but nobody is going to take the Malignant Felon to court because they're afraid of him.

Same goes for academia. he's cowed all of them.

This is the question that I have, especially for academia. Some of those schools are a few centuries old. They're going to be here in a couple of generations. And when that time comes, when the questions are asked about this era: "Where were you? What did you do to stand up for the cause of freedom?"-- What are you going to say? That you ran and hid and acted as though Trump was an EF-5 tornado and there was nothing you could do? Or did you stand up to an old, malignant, grievance-fueled psychopath and fight?

Almost every school has, somewhere, a monument to those students who went off to fight for our freedom and who didn't come home alive. Maybe the administrators and board members should go and stand in front of those monuments and reflect on their actions and inactions in opposing the Demented Dictator of Mar-a-Lago.

The Tesla Scam

The Cybertruck isn't a truck. It's nothing but a car with some fancy panels thatmay or may not fall off.

The Cosplaytruck. The Fraudmobile.

When you see one on the road, spare a thought for the stupid owner who got swindled by this con. Or point and laugh. Your choice.

Since Most Domestic Terrorists Are From The Felon's Team, This Tracks
And
Zampolits at the VA

The FBI has cut staffing in an office focused on domestic terrorism and has scrapped a tool used to track such investigations, in a shift that could undermine law enforcement’s ability to counter white supremacists and anti-government extremists, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The moves, sources said, are an indication that domestic terrorism investigations, which in recent years have largely involved violence fueled by right-wing ideologies, may be less of a priority under FBI Director Kash Patel, a prominent critic of the effort
.

So, to recap: Right-wing terrorism is good, torching am Incel Camino is bad. Well, the latter is bad, anyway, they should be destroyed in normal use, from lack of sales and YT testing.

Meanwhile, at the Veterans Administration, employees there have been forbidden from talking to the VA's own lawyers without the approval of a Trumpy political commissar.

The Veterans Affairs Department has instructed employees in its benefits office not to interact with VA’s cadre of attorneys without direct permission from political leadership, raising questions as to how employees there will seek legal advice.

The Veterans Benefits Administration frequently turns to VA’s Office of General Counsel for questions on adjudicating claims, handling litigation and interpreting new laws and directives. Cheryl Mason, a senior advisor to VA Secretary Doug Collins, gave directions that VBA business lines and staff offices “should have NO direct contact with OGC” without first receiving permission from Mason, according to a series of emails recently sent to staff and obtained by Government Executive.

“That means no one in VBA should make a call or send an email to anyone in OGC without prior approval,” according to one such email.

Apparently, this directive has been expanded to include everyone else in the VA, to the point that VA in-house attorneys in other offices are forbidden from contacting the OGC on any matter without the prior approval of a political officer.

The goal seems to be to make the VA even more inefficient as a prelude to pushing for privatization of VA health services.

One Thing Right-Wing Morons Talk About

"Clean coal".

There is no such thing. Those who say that it does are shills for the coal industry.

Which, as you might expect, includes Cadet Bone Spurs.

There is a Reason Why It's Being Called the "Darwinnebago"

The CyberTruck is 17 times more likely to have a fire fatality than a Ford Pinto.

Yes, if you're dumb enough to have spent good money on a WankerPanzer, you bought yourself a firey coffin.

Seventeen times more likely to kill you in a fire than the good old exploding Pinto:

Yes, that Pinto, the car that was a poster-child for corporations that were willing to see their customers killed if it made a buck.

Meanwhile, other people are digging into the records to show that Musk has profited hugely off of Federal contracts and Federally-sponsored research and that at his companies that actually might do something, they've put him in a sandbox so he can't fuck things up. But I'll link to that stuff down the road. Got shit to do.
