John Roberts Law is Jim Crow Law 2.0
It takes an amazing amount of willful blindness for the Six Fascists on the USSC to pretend that there is no such thing as racial discrimination anymore. But that's what they did in the Callais decision.
Let's be blunt: Those fuckers would undo Brown v. Board of Ed. if they thought they could. They'd bring back Plessy v. Ferguson if the chance prevented itself.
It may be a stretch to say that they'd turn the 13th Amendment into a dead letter and restore chattel slavery if the Heritage Foundation and the Federalist Society outlined a plan to do so.
"John Crow Roberts"? "John Crow"?

Trump Kings Himself

Everyone, turn out for the next No Kings rally near you.
I Hope They Make the New Passports Spit-Resistant
THE STATE DEPARTMENT IS CLOSE TO FINALIZING a radical redesign of the U.S. passport to include a picture of President Donald Trump, The Bulwark has learned from two sources with knowledge of the redesign, including one who shared images currently under consideration.
This is what it'll look like:
Ann Telnaes has a take on it:
Is there no floor, no cellar, no limit to his narcissistic defilement of our country? Even Hitler ddn't put his face on German passports.
Since Trump had his name redacted from the Epstein files, it'll be only fair to take a Sharpie and redact his name from your passport.

The Ballroom Scam
Trump was never going to use donations to build his ballroom and führerbunker. He was going to wait for an opportunity for one of his buttmonkeys in the Congress to weasel out a way to use taxpayer money for it. And now he thinks that he has found it.
Massive federal debt, a ruinous war, the budget airlines are tincupping the Trump Administration and now the Trump Party wants to spend at least $400 million on his vanity project and Lord knows how much more on the Arc d'Trump.
And yet the GOP continues to con its faithful that they're the party of fiscal responsibility, while Trump spends money like it's coming out of a firehose, but never on anything that might actually benefit most Americans.
The bunker, well, maybe Trump can put it to the same use that his role model ultimately did.

Another J6 Scumbag
He got tripped up by a DNA test.
State charges, so the Great Orange Pedo can't pardon him for doing a crime said GOP would approve of.
A U.S. Capitol riot defendant who was accused of firing a gun into the air while among the mob on Capitol grounds on January 6, 2021, now faces charges of sexual assault and kidnapping in Utah.
Prosecutors allege John Banuelos, 40, attacked a woman in the Salt Lake City area in 2018, three years prior to his alleged involvement in the Capitol siege, according to court filings obtained by CBS News.
A DNA test conducted in August linked Banuelos to the 2018 sex assault, prosecutors allege in a charging document filed in Utah.

We’ll See How Long That Lasts
President Donald Trump was somberly contemplative and unusually conciliatory after confronting what he saw as a third attempt on his life in less than two years. He suggested that his personal politics had made him a repeated target, but he also called for unity and bipartisan healing in an increasingly violent world.
He's the president, he's supposedly the leader of the country, he can go first. He can try to establish a new tone of discourse in this country. But he never will.
One thing is certain: You won't make a dime on Polymarket betting that he'll do it. He calls reporters who ask him uncomfortable questions nasty names (especially if they're women), he mocks the disabled, and he is continually racist to non-white people. He has repeatedly said that non-white politicians who oppose him are "low IQ". He calls the free press "the enemy of the people", he's called Democrats "traitors". And yes, he regards those who serve our nation "suckers" and "losers".
Trump's a distasteful, racist, misogynistic, hateful narcissist and he's just a thoroughly mean person. He has been so for nearly 80 years. The only likely cure for his personality is embalming fluid.
He's not going to change. Anyone who thinks that he will is not living in an evidence-based world.

This is a little wild:
The Greek Orthodox Church lost control of St. Sophia before Columbus sailed to start the conquest of the Western Hemisphere, when the Ottomans (cool it, JD) took Constantinople. So I don't know what this clown is on about. I mean, I have no regard for Lindsey Graham, but it's not his fault that the Byzantine Empire fell to the Ottoman Empire almost six hundred years ago.
But since when have facts mattered to religious zealots like the Christian Taliban?

How the Right Has Twisted
Trump wants the government to buy and bail out Spirit Airlines.
Anyone remember when both Bush and Obama backed bailing out GM, calling it "Government Motors"? Something Trump opposed once he saw that President Obama was getting credit for it.
There is something fitting about Trump trying to save a bankrupt airline when he, himself, bankrupted an airline.

Mister Art of the Deal
It's obvious that pulling out of the Iran Deal was a catastrophic decision by Trump. Yet that decision got far less media and political scrutiny than the Deal itself. https://t.co/UojD3XYJim

We are were we are because that Orange Self-Inflated Moron did what Netanyahu wanted ripped up the first accord, which Iran was abiding by, to get a better deal, which he never achieved. The original agreement took years of negotiation by professional diplomats. But after ignoring things for years, he fell again under the spell of Netanyahu, went to war, and when that all backfired, he didn't send diplomats to talk to Iran. No, he sent his corrupt son-in-law and his best bud, who is a corrupt real-estate guy and, allegedly, a Russian asset, much like Trump.
And no surprise, those two idiots were who the Iranians were talking to before Trump had Whiskey Pete drop bombs because, allegedly, neither Witkoff nor Jared the Wunderkind understood how to do their jobs.

Trump and Hegseth: Stupid to the Core
They fired the SecNav for failing to do the impossible:
The idea that the shupbuilders could deliver a large capital ship in three years or quicker is just a crack-smoking fantasy.
If you feel like taking the time online, look up how long it took to build battleships back in the day. From laying the keel to commissioning, the USS New Jersey, partially built during wartime conditions, took 31 months. The USS Tennessee, built during World War One, took four years, the USS California almost five. One of the reasons why the first years of WW2 were fought with CVEs was that it took longer to build fleet carriers.
Even then, with a far larger shipbuilding industry, we couldn't just poop out capital ships. It's not happening now. It took seven years to build the USS Nimitz fifty years ago and the Navy's trying to get the Ford-class down to eight years' construction time.
Dimbulb Donnie and Whiskey Pete seem to be operating on the mindset that if you want to plow the field faster, you need to beat the mules more. Building complex ships doesn't work that way. That's a fact that's obvious to anyone who can take even a short span of time to educate themselves about building things.
Which is neither one of those fools. The United States has the dumbest, most vapid and mercurial leader of any major power since Kaiser Wilhelm II.
Greg Jaffe and Helene Cooper of the New York Times reported that Trump has been frustrated by Phelan’s inability to fulfill his demand for the first of his new battleships by 2028, an inability caused by the fact that the U.S. shipbuilding industry doesn’t have the capacity to do it. At a Wednesday meeting with Trump, Hegseth and Feinberg convinced the president that Phelan had to go.

Anyone who really believes that the Dim Son would be involved with a drone company selling to the government if his dad wasn't president should really think about slowing down their consumption of Trump Kool-Aid. This is naked corruption of the sort that, on a far smaller scale, got Repubicans twisted in knots about Hunter Biden.
But you know how it goes: It's OK if you're a Republican and ten-fold if you're a Trump relative.

J. Edgar Boozer Sues!
He's suing for reports on his getting frequently blitzed.
He's going to learn of the Streisand Effect because, every time there is a story on the news about this case, the allegations of his excessive drinking will receive a fresh airing. Because his boozing is a far more relatable story than his use of the FBI jet to go see his girlfriend or his assigning HRT agents to be her security detail.
Kash Patel has followed through on a threat to sue the Atlantic and the author of a story the magazine published that included allegations of “excessive drinking” as well as “conspicuous inebriation and unexplained absences” while in charge of the FBI.

An Inglis P35, the L9A1 model.
Palmetto State Armory has them for $240 below MSRP, so yeah, I jumped on that.
Why? Well, for one thing, it's half the price of a Springfield SA-35, which may or may not have a frame made by the same maker.
More later.

Trumpist Chair-Shuffling Fuckery Continues
Secretary of the Navy John Phelan is leaving his position “effective immediately,” Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell announced on Wednesday.
"Effective immediately" is never a good sign. Maybe he couldn't drink enough to keep up with Pretty-Boy Pete? Did they catch in in bed with a dead girl, a live boy or, even worse, a reporter?
More to come, once it leaks out from this administration, which is as watertight as a colander.

American Backstabbing: Never Work with U.S. Forces
This is beyond heinous. Those are people who put their lives on the line, defying the Taliban, to help our troops. But because they're not white people, Trump and Miller are going to buttfuck them.
The message is clear: If you live in a land where American forces are operating, if you provide any aid or assistance, you do so at your own risk. For you will not be helped in any way.

Shorter Blanche: "My Job Is to Protect Racists and Nazis.
Also Pedophiles, But Only If They're Rich."
The Southern Poverty Law Center was indicted Tuesday on federal fraud charges alleging it improperly raised millions of dollars to pay informants to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan and other extremist groups, acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said.
The civil rights group faces charges including wire fraud, bank fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering in the case brought by the Justice Department in Alabama, where the organization is based.
It's nothing other than trying to stop the SPLC from investigating the Klan and other extremist groups.
Because those are Trump's peeps and everybody knows it. Which is why Blanche isn't going after the Epstein-class child predators.

Antivaxxers Killed This Kid
The mother of a 10-year-old girl who died from complications of measles has urged parents to have their children vaccinated amid a surge of cases.
Renae Archer was too young to have the MMR vaccine when she caught the infection at just five months old.
A decade later, she was diagnosed with subacute sclerosing panencephalitis, a very rare brain disease. She died in 2023.
Her mother Becky believes Renae might not have caught measles if more people had inoculated their children.
The antivaxxers who have destroyed any chance of herd immunity killed that girl. RFK,jr is one of those who promotes unscientific bullshit worthy of the Dark Ages belief in witchcraft.

The Moon Is No Place to Be
Let me go through the reasons why I don't believe the Moon is habitable.
First: Radiation. There is no shielding if you're on the surface. There is no atmosphere, nothing eqivalent to the Van Allen Belt. If you're on the surface, you're going to be exposed to the full force of the solar wind, not to mention cosmic rays. In short order, to borrow a phrase from Andy Weir's Mark Whatley, your cancers will have cancer.[1] The safer options would be to burrow deep and only spend much time on the surface at night, when you can use the Moon itself as a radiation shield. Daytime surface operations would be best handled by robots. But even they could break down from radiation. Not to mention if a solar storm sends a coronal mass ejection the Moon's way, being caught out on the surface would be a very bad thing.
Second: Dust and sand. Dust on Earth is soft. Sand is soft. On Earth, they are weathered; water and wind break down the jagged edges. Look at rocks that have been exposed for awhile, the edges are worn smooth. Water breaks down almost everything over time. The Appalachians are a very old mountain range that, in their youth, were likely as tall as the Himalayas. None of that happens on the Moon. As the Apollo astronauts found out, lunar dust gets everywhere. It will abrade everything. It will get into the mechanisms of any habitat. It will degrade optical sensors. It will erode everything.
Third: The gravity well of Earth. Almost everything will need to be send up from Earth, until such time, decades from now, that raw materials can be mined from asteroids. There are some raw materials, but not many. If there is water, it will be precious and likely fought over until exhausted by the tragedy of the commons.
The cost of sending anything to the Moon is exhorbitant. Artemis might lift 30 tons to the Moon, but that stuff has to be landed. If even a third of it is payload (ten tons), that works out to roughly $200,000 per pound ($4B/rocket). Plus, if it's needed on an emergency basis, it takes three days to get there, assuming that a rocket is fully fueled and sitting on Launch Pad 39B. If not, flinging something there will take months.[2]
Fourth: Lunar gravity. Humans have spent millions of years evolving to live on a 1G planet. We didn't evolve to live on a 1/6thG planet. It will take constant work for people to stay in shape to be able to tolerate a return to Earth, and, given human nature, long-term residents may not always put in the work. Further, any couple the desires to raise a family, including birthing children, will need to return home in order to do it. Having raising a child on the Moon will be a experiment on a nonconsenting individual, and we aren't Nazis.
I am sorry if I'm harshing somebody's calm about this. But I just don't see how the Moon will be habitable within the lifetimes of almost everyone reading this today. Not until somebody comes up with a far cheaper of launching mass to the Moon.
