Department of Homeland Security plans to purchase and operate mega warehouses to use as immigration detention centers are raising concerns among lawmakers, local residents and government contractors in the running to operate them.
Concerns about utilities, labor, removing large buildings from local tax bases, I get that. But, to my thoughts, those are petty concerns.
First, let's face the fact: Those warehouses are roofed-over concentration camps. DHS likes them because they are completely out of sight. The evil fuckery that goes on is largely undetectable. But it's not as though we don't know what is going on. Bad food, poor conditions, lack of medical care, denial of basic rights, those are all known knowns. Anybody in this country who is not aware of those facts is as culpable as the Germans who didn't pay attention to the smoke and the stink from their concentration camps.
Second: Fair notice to the people who are signing up to run and work in the DHS Gulag Achipelago: The rest of us will know who you are. You may be called to account, legally and/or socially, for doing that work. You will be regarded, for the rest of your lives, as the American analogue to the Black-and-Tans, thugs who were poorly-trained than and are now. Having worked for ICE will be regarded by the majority of people as something akin to having done time for serial child abuse.
Third: To the companies and contractors, you will not be regarded kindly. Working for you will be a badge of shame. You will be as well-regarded as a company that processed dead puppies for their fur. You can change your name to Princess Sparkle's Hospitality Services, but just like Constellis Services, we will know who you truly are and what evil you did.

Here in Utah, the corrupt and venal Utah republicans, who have a stranglehold on power in the state because Jesus cries when someone votes for a Democrat, are all slavering for the money that would come from a DHS concentration camp. So far, though, owners of empty warehouses have said no thanks.
... When the came for me there was no one to speak out.
Eck!
Here's a article about "Project Salt Box", a group of mostly veterans who are working to expose plans to build or purchase these facilities in time for locals to stop them:
