Cumshaw

"Cumshaw" is/was a military slang term for stuff that a unit "acquired" outside of the normal supply chain.

There is a shitload of it in Iraq. Apparently there is no real plan for dealing with it.

We called it "midnight requisition".

Remember all that stuff we hauled over the Hump to Chiang Kai-Shek? From Barbara Tuchman's bio of Stilwell:

"...an American OSS unit discovered a cache of arms hidden in the hills around Tushan...In 20 or more warehouses each about 50 feet long there was stored 50,000 tons of weapons and ammunition, including 50 new field guns and their shells...Kweilin and Liuchow had fallen, the Japanese were probing at Kweichow, Chungking was trembling -- and the arms were still being stored against a crisis."
