Trump last night had the same mien that he had when he was reading his statement retracting his approval of the Nazis at Charlottesville: He was saying things that he's been forced to say and that he doesn't believe. He probably wanted to parrot Hannity and OxyBoy.
Also, his announcement of the travel ban last night were in complete alignment with his instincts: Unilateral, self-serving and likely of no use whatsoever. American presidents have been, since the Iron Curtain came down, given the mantle of "The Leader of the Free World". Trump has abdicated that position. He'll coordinate nothing with nobody.
Trump is the perfect president for promoting the spread of a pandemic.
