Trump Focuses In On What's Important: Himself

Visiting the CDC on Friday, President Trump said he would ultimately let Pence, who leads the task force in charge of the response, decide whether to allow passengers stuck on the cruise ship to disembark. But he said several times that he would be inclined to leave them on board because bringing them ashore would increase the number of official cases on American soil.

“I like the numbers being where they are. I don’t need to have the numbers being doubled because of one ship,” Trump said.
It doesn't matter to Trump if people on that ship may be be sickened and die because they are being kept in rather close quarters. Just as long as they die at sea and the numbers don't reflect badly on him.

If there was a better example out there that shows Trump's blatant uncaring for anything other than what makes him look good, I am unaware of it.

Also, when asked why he had eliminated pandemic planning in 2018, Trump said this:
“I just think this is something that you can never really think is going to happen.”
That is so gob-smackingly stupid that it hardly bears commenting about.

This is the person that at least 40% of the voters think is fit to be our president??

We are so screwed.

That's the scary and sad part of the trump presidency. Over 40% of American voters are rascist, mysoginist and selfish. And not just in the treason states south of the Mason/Dixon line either. Plenty of trump lovers in California, Oregon and everywhere else. And you can't blame trump for the conditions that brought him to power. Since Reagan the rich, aided by the GOP and Rupert Murdock-presently rotting in hell, have steadily and relentlessly stolen the nation's wealth from the workers who create that wealth.
Also aided by fake Democrats like the Clintons and Obama.
Trump, though proudly stupid and ignorant, has a genius for exploiting the obvious decline of the middle, working class whites to scapegoat the 'other' to spread division and turmoil. Exactly like Mussolini and Herr Shicklegruber. Trump didn't cause the decline of the fortune of working people since Reagan. The rich, the Republic Party and Fox 'News' caused it. Trump just cleverly used it to ride to power. Also aided by Mrs Clinton's election blunders, the slave master friendly electoral college and the traditional subversive talent of the Russians. It only takes a small nudge to swing an election when the country is so divided. And trump got just enough. To his own surprise more than anyone elses.

They did, Fergus. That was their job, before you fired them. They were one part of the government that didn't cause a big improvement when you eliminated them.

Exactly Tod: these are people for whom the bottom has fallen out....so they take out their fear and anger against the Other...instead of looking at the mirror, realizing that the modern business model and the 1% have done the gutting while they were oblivious....and instead of organizing to redress these inequities. 'Politics, civics and current events are boorrrring.' Until your life, your communities, your kids. your air, land and water are sold down the river. Look in the mirror America and demand better of and for yourself.
