Aaaand, Warren's Out

Elizabeth Warren, who electrified progressives with her “plan for everything” and strong message of economic populism, dropped out of the Democratic presidential race on Thursday, days after the onetime front-runner failed to win a single Super Tuesday state, not even her own.
Super Tuesday did what it was supposed to do: Cull the pack of candidates.

So the choice for Democrats is one of two old guys from the Silent Generation.

The news horrifies me, and I happen to be a member of the Silent Generation. But as I mentioned in the comments section on some other blog, I'd vote for a one-eyed horned toad with herpes if he's running against Trump, so whatever.

Yours very crankily,

She was the smartest but lacked the common touch. Whereas Wall Street corporate ole Joe B ya wanna drank a beer wit. If he wins it'll be another Obama regime. The sleep of the Democratic party. Repugnacrat Lite. Romneycare. Endless wars. Gitmo forever; for everybody.
The empire is falling. But it might last 50 more years. Russian has the GDP of Italy, and now the carbon lobby is in trouble. China has bigger problems than the US has. Who else is there?

I'm not a Democrat, and I love my guns, but I would have voted for her. Sheer unadulterated competence would have been a novel political experience, and good for the country. Probably--we'll never know.

Unless one of the geezers chooses her for VP--I doubt either of them would make it through their first term.

I voted for her and I don't regret it one bit.

Tod, listen to this clip of EW in a living room talk to ordinary people and tell me she doesn't get to these common people.

Maybe it doesn't sell quite as viscerally as hate and fear, but there's real knowledge and passion hard-won over years along with substantive ideas about how to really make America better.
America has swung and missed again, and the country is getting the politics it deserves.
As Stevenson replied to a supporter who yelled 'Adlai, you have the support of every thinking American!, 'I need a majority of all Americans'.
Meanwhile the GOP base and Congress is still hypnotized by the two-bit carny barker in the White House.
Jefferson: "I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever."

You are spot on. I planned to vote for her until it became obvious she couldn't get the nomination. So I had the honor to vote for a democratic socialist for the 1st time in my life. And if corporate Joe is nominated I'll hold my nose and ink in his oval. Just like I did for Mrs Clinton about 300 years ago, seems like.

Does it even matter who we nominate to run, as long as they win? I mean if Joe is the popular one, does it matter if he is brain dead? It's his cabinet that is going to change our world. The Senate and the House create and pass the laws. It's not like old Joe has to saddle up and wield his sword to save us. Secretary of State, Department of Justice, EPA, etc. These are the power places that we need sane people in charge of. I'd vote for my dog if I thought he'd get the backing to win. After we get the government back, then we can have purity tests and popularity tests again.
My thoughts anyway.
OH Yea, Moscow Mitch has to go as well.

Paul Krugman says it doesn't, and that their administrations would be functionally identical.
Polling in the senate races is improving now, with the Dems out of statistical ties in four races, but Alabama likely to be a loss.
Perhaps Bullock will save our bacon.
