New Horizons: CPA Pluto!
(Actually, one second ago.)
A photo that was taken yesterday afternoon:
Today also marks 50 years (minus about 12 or so hours) since Mariner 4 flew by Mars, the first probe to photograph another world. If you're kind of a science geek, it's been a great ride.*

May I presume you have seen the meme of a "Pluto" the cartoon dog face, imposed over the light colored part in the lower right? It does seem to fit.
And, really big high 5 to NASA, and all the other people and Countries that made this happen.
We only started air flight in the beginning of the last century, and see how far we have come today.
A little over 100 years from flapping our wings with paper wings to looking closely at the far reaches of our solar system. Wow.
I have great hope for where we will be in Another Century if we can just keep this planet going for that long.
Thrilled.

And it's health and sending back data for the next 16 months...current data rate is about the same as a 1200 baud modem.
