We find 62/28 support both for an independent investigation into Russia's involvement in the election generally, and for the appointment of a special prosecutor specifically. We find that an increasingly large percentage of voters think that Russia did want Trump to win the election- 60% now say that Russia was pulling for Trump to only 16% who claim they think Russia wanted Hillary Clinton to win. Voters are still pretty evenly divided though when it comes to whether they think Trump's campaign team and Russia directly worked together to try to influence the election- 43% say they think there was collusion between Russia and Trump's aides to 38% who don't think there was.Right now, Trump is in a sort of a spot: His polling numbers are not so bad that the congressional Republicans will openly oppose him, but they are bad enough that Democrats see little risk in going into full-on Mitch McConnell-style obstructionism. But as the polling numbers get worse for Trump, as it is clearly conceivable that they will, one might imagine that he will find it harder and harder to hold his caucus together in the Congress.
The stakes for Trump on this issue are high- if it does turn out his campaign coordinated directly with Russia, 54% of voters think he should resign to only 34% who believe he should stay in office. And voters do want to see the bottom of this story gotten to- only 33% consider it to be 'fake news.' ... For the first time we find more voters (48%) in support of impeaching Trump than there are (41%) opposed to the idea. Only 43% of voters think Trump is actually going to end up serving his full term as President, while 45% think he won't, and 12% aren't sure one way or the other.
At some point, it may occur to them that if they can't find a way to show Trump gracefully to the exit, many of them are politically doomed. For Trump's ship is taking on water. Oh, the lights are still on and the band is playing, but smart politicians are making sure that they will be positioned to be first in line for the lifeboats. Being linked to a crook was survivable. Being linked to a traitor and a Russian asset may not be.
None of those guys are the sort to chain themselves to the railings and go down with the ship. For they all know that, if the situation was reversed, Trump would have bailed on them at the first hint of trouble.

But Hilary's emails! Uranium! Vincent Foster! Benghazi! Pizzagate! Bill was the rapist! Deep State! Whitewater! Death Panals!
Times like these are when we need HST
Hillary's crimes were real, proven.
Trump? Maybe. So far, all I see is innuendo. I'm still waiting for even a specific accusation. When it can be proved, then I'll jump on the bandwagon.
One would think that after all this time, with all those folks hating him and trying too find a way to damage him, that there would be something by now....Yet so far there is only the MSM and the DNC squaking "The Russians!" over and over without anything, you know, concrete.
But that is politics of the Left today.
B, I have to presume that you're not old enough to remember the Clinton years. Or even the relentless investigations of Obama by Issa, Chaffetz, and their Merry Bands of Fools.
What did Whitewater come up with? What did Benghazi come up with?
Your side of the line isn't exactly simon-pure on this. You might want to stop insinuating that the Right is standing on moral ground. They most assuredly are not.
Looking at the ground the Right has staked out makes me think of Dien Bien Phu. The active question at this point is if the Congress will read the tea leaves and run, or try to hold out. Holding out makes for a 2019 Impeachment, and a Senate trial that will have more twists and turns than Mulholland Drive...cutting and running will alienate the Trump coalition but shore up the moderates and give Pence a chance to show his legislative chops. Amusingly, when's the last time you heard the words TEA Party?
Do you want President Pence?
Because this is how you get President Pence.
Impeach them both at the same time and get president Pelosi in '19.

3383, no. I've never wanted President Pence, but I've always seen him as the Republocan Trojan Horse.
Hillary's crimes were real, proven.
Right. No indictments, no convictions, just a lot of Republicans whining and gnashing their teeth.
By the standards that you seem to be applying to Trump, B, Hillary did nothing.
Comey stated that she had done the mishandling of classified material.
The "justice" department (you know, Loretta Lynch, who just before that announcement met with William J.) "Declined to prosecute because there was no "Intent"".
But she did it.
Ok, so now we are down to Hillary's "crime"...reduced from "crimes". The problem with this thesis is that you are attributing to Hillary a number of actions taken by her, her staff and her technical aides that followed a precident in the previous Administration. The lack of outrage at GWB's people doing the same thing shows this as the same as Whitewater, scream and shout and throw stuff against the wall, hoping enough sticks.
If what Comey says is authoritative when it comes to Hillary, does his saying that Trump asked him to stop investigating Flynn constitute proof that Trump tried to shut down theFBI's investigation, which is obstruction of justice?
And if not, then explain why Comey's statements are authoritative when it comes to a Democrat but not when it comes to a Republican. for that seems to be how you are setting the bar.
One is heresay, the other is proven by an investigation.
Make no mistake, if they can *prove* Trump ordered Comey to stop the investigation or to passFlynn when he shouldn't have, I'll jump on the "impeach Trump" bandwagon.
The issue is that the Left makes so many accusations I can't separate the real from the noise.
And innit odd that this didn't come out until the firing of Comey? If he were all upstanding and scuh, why didn't it come out BEFORE he was fired? Odd, that.
Bengahzi (sigh), again!? Romney and The Retards highly successful coverup into the highest reaches of congress of their utterly failed attempt to stage a Reaganisq "He Rescued The Hostages!" October Surprise that resulted in the deathes of four Americans Bengahzi? Again!?
Keep flogging that dead horse, B.
B: I think Comey is an asshole with a finely tuned sense of CYA, but people he worked with tell it different. One thing he is noted for is his proclivity for writing down the contents of meetings when he thought something wasn't right. The torture memo meeting in the AG's hospital room, for instance.
What I've been reading is that these memos didn't come out before he was fired because they were insurance in case he was fired. Like I said, CYA is always at the forefront with this guy. His co-workers explain it in grander terms, though, about protecting his agents in the investigation from the toxic politics produced by a rogue president's out of line behavior, so they could continue doing their jobs. Which is all well and good, but also a form of CYA behavior.
And just out of curiosity, what does Hillary have to do with president four-year-old obstructing justice?

Doug, it's kinda like working with a dog...you get him to finally sit, then a squirrel runs by, vooommmmm! If you're a Republican, when something makes you sit and think about Donnie's behavior, the Republican leaders yell "Hillary!", and away you go...
Odd, the people I know in the FBI (and yes, it is more than 4) tell me he is hated by everyone, respected by few and they are glad he is gone.
But I just shoot with agents and supervisors, so what do I know?
Hanging out with Feds doesn't exactly advance your credibility around here. Talking guns and aircraft is one thing, countering NAZI propaganda is another.
Perhaps the Feds you hang with share your politics, thus a self-fulfilling prophesy.
