The Bush Recession Began a Year Ago

So say the experts. They also say that the Bush Recession will set a record for length and possibly severity.

"The fundamentals of our economy are strong." -- John McCain, Sept. 15, 2008
Yeah, if you make either $5 million a year or were fortunate enough to marry the heiress of a beer distributor, it looks strong.

"As policy-makers, we're focused on the health of the financial system as a whole. In the short run, adjustments in the financial markets can be painful, both for the people concerned about their investments and for the employees of the affected firms. In the long run, I'm confident that our capital markets are flexible and resilient and can deal with these adjustments." -- George W. Bush, September 15, 2008
Which is why, of course, we are pouring trillions and trillions of dollars into the financial system to prop it up.

But we'll let the auto industry sink because the only people hurt there will be blue, white and pink-collar wage earners. The so-called "masters of the Universe" can get their bailouts by mailing a postcard to their buddy, Hank Paulson, but if you draw a paycheck, the attitude of the Bush Administration is "it sucks to be you."

But really, this has been going on for a long time. The Republicans have been very much active in destroying America's manufacturing base, because manufacturing jobs help the poor move into the middle class. From their actions, Republicans hate the middle class and want to bring back the societal structure of the 13th Century. Mitt Romney, for example, has made a fortune by sending jobs overseas.

The question remains: Why? Why do Republicans hate most of the people who live and work in this country?

And still the dopey talking heads on television were going on about how the restaurants are full in Manhattan so really? is this recession real? why aren't Americans suffering more? Why does Joe Scarborough still see people buying Coach bags at the upscale mall in Florida?

Um - huh. Maybe because those with the concentrated wealth aren't feeling it the way the rest of us are? Even in good times, I never saw the wisdom in purchasing pricey handbags.....
