It Really Was "Blood for Oil"

The Wingnuts and the rest of the GOP took great offense at the charge, leveled since the Iraq War began, that the war was fought in order to give American oil companies a foothold in Iraq. Iraq is reportedly one of the easiest places left in the world to drill for oil, with an oil distribution system already built. American oil companies wanted in there, badly, and they wanted to kick out the companies that had rights to drill there, especially the Russians.

So now comes Hunt Oil, a Texas oil company that has very close ties to George Bush, to sign a deal with the Kurds to allow development in the Kurdish regions.

Then we have the specter of the Bush Administration steering the Iraqis to award development contracts to five American oil companies.

Over 4,000 dead American soldiers. Tens of thousands maimed. Hundreds of thousands with injuries ranging from closed-brain damage to PTSD. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis killed. Several million Iraqis turned into refugees.

All so Bush's buddies could make a shitload of money.

Between the oil and the billions of dollars of no-bid contracts given to Cheney's company Halliburton, the stink of corruption is on this war like the white stripe on a skunk.
