Suspension or Withdrawal

Clinton suspended her campaign yesterday. She gave what, by all accounts, was a gracious speech, though she sort of had to be frog-marched to the podium by the party officials who had bluntly informed her that her original plan to take two weeks or so to think it over was not going to cut it. The reason for a "suspension" over a "withdrawal" probably has more to do with trying to retire some of her campaign debt.

(I didn't watch the speech, I had airplane stuff to do.)

I can understand the bitterness of some of her supporters, as those close to a campaign have to drink the Kool-Aid, to some extent. They should, however, ask themselves this question:

Who is closer to the positions that they (and Clinton) care about: Barack Obama or John McCain?

If they are instead going to vote based on the cult of personality centered on Hillary Clinton, they
will forfeit all rights to complain when a President McCain continues the policies of endless warfare, the destruction of Constitutional freedoms and full-frontal attacks on the rights of women to control their own bodies.

If they are willing to vote for the candidate that is closest to what they think is the right course for this country, then bless their hearts.

If they are willing to let the country go down the tubes because the candidate they favored in the primaries did not win the nomination, then damn their selfish and childish souls.
