DeSantis Is Going to Lose, Bigly

Disney sued Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday over the Republican’s takeover of its theme park district, alleging the governor waged a “targeted campaign of government retaliation” after the company opposed a law critics call “Don’t Say Gay.”

The lawsuit was filed in Tallahassee minutes after a Disney World oversight board appointed by DeSantis voted to void a deal that gave the company authority over design and construction decisions in its sprawling properties near Orlando.

I'm surprised that Disney didn't sue DeSantis right from the start. DeSantis has made no secret of the fact that his moves against Disney are in retaliation for Disney opposing his "Don't Say Gay" law. Corporations have rights to speak out under the First Amendment, which the Supremes so ruled in the Citizens United.

I don;t know whether or not Disney's case against DeSantis is a slam-dunk, but it seems to me that it is pretty close to being that.

At least their standing up against DeSantis's fascistic view that "freedom" means "you are free to agree with me." Which is no different from the Republicans' view that parents are free to run their children's lives, so long as parents do it in a way that Republicans agree with.

Even Reich-Wing 1stA experts saying Disney is in command here…who would have thought that DeSantis talking to the GOP sphere about punishing Disney for their opinions would bite him in the ass? The open question, who gets fucked by their own speech first, Ron or the Don?

I'm all for Disney but lately it appears that you need to choose the right judge if you want to win regardless of the strength of your case. I hope their lawyers shopped well.
