It now turns out that the man the NYPD cops thought they were looking for when they roughed up Mr. Blake was in Australia. His name was on the original photo (which the cops cropped) and it might have taken them less than a minute to figure that all out.
No points for guessing what the plainclothes cops' attitude towards that was.
