If you guys really do want to become a permanent minority party, please feel free to listen to these guys. They got nothing, other than a continuous battle over "culture wars."
Memo to you fools: Even with homophobic ballot initiatives that passed in California and Florida, you lost both of those states in the presidential election. In Kansas, your anti-science state school board went down in flames in 2006.
If you want to keep flying the flag of the culture warrior, you will consign yourselves to the role of the embittered minority forever. Look at the polling; the ages of the voters that care about such shit are roughly the ages of people eligible to join AARP. Younger voters in the main don't give a shit about that stuff.
Smart politicians adapt to change. Strom Thurmond evolved from only fucking Black women to providing constituent services to Black voters. Thurmond voted for the Martin Luther King holiday, something Jesse Helms (and John McCain) opposed.
Dumb politicians stick to the platforms that brought them to defeat. If the GOP fails to adapt, it will go the way of the Whig and Federalist parties.
