Pete Ricketts (R) announced at a news conference that state health officials would no longer share figures about how many workers have been infected at each plant.Funny how Republicans can lambaste the Chinese for hiding the true numbers of coronavirus cases and then turn around and do the exact same thing.
Funny how Smithfield is so, so concerned about employee privacy that they're hiding the numbers of Covid-19 cases in their plant. Arbeit macht frei and all that, you know. Can't have the working poors concerned with such things.

I wonder if the fact Smithfield is owned by the WH Group based in Hong Kong was an additional influence on their behavior.
Possibly. Their reported track record is rather sketchy. I wonder how much of what they produce is earmarked for export back to their homeland.
You know, for a party that reviles and despises the media so much, the Republicans sure do act as if the media controls reality: "if we can keep it out of the media, it doesn't exist."
