Would someone explain to me why any Republican politician would want to take credit for the Apollo program? The Republicans were against the Moon program. Eisenhower thought that it was a waste of money to send men into space.

Nixon killed the last three Apollo moon missions (Apollo 18-20). Because the Apollo program was advocated by, and subsequently became identified with, a Democratic president.

In my view, it is particularly shameful of Pawlenty to try and tie Republicans to the space program. Because they were against it before they were for it.
