Now I Know We're Screwed

“People wonder about the peaceful transfer of power,” Mr. Graham said on Fox News on Thursday. “I can assure you, it will be peaceful.”

“I promise you as a Republican, if the Supreme Court decides that Joe Biden wins, I will accept the result,” Mr. Graham added. “The court will decide, and if Republicans lose, we’ll accept the result.”
First off, we all know, by now, the value of assurances and promises by Miss Lindsey. They are worth less than a steaming pile of dogshit.

Note the qualifications: The election has to go to the Supreme Court for Graham to accept the outcome. As far as I know, that's only happened once. And if it doesn't go to the Supremes, Miss Lindsey isn't saying that the Republicans will accept the result.

There is a non-zero chance of utter chaos, thanks to feckless bastards like Trump and Graham. You may want to prepare, if only a little.

See my Politico post reference in the comments on the post below this one.

It isn't just the R's that are gonna make this a contested election.

Or you gonna edit that out too because you don't like what it says?

I didn't think it was possible for me to be disappointed by a Republican at this late date, but I think I have just been disappointed by Lindsey Graham.
I'm not disappointed that he went back on his thrice stated in the very public word, he's a Republican, and everyone knows Republicans' words are worth their weight in rat turds.
No, I'm disappointed in him for his supposed reasoning behind going back on his word: the treatment of Brett Kavanaugh at his confirmation.
Hear me out.
Lindsey Graham, or as he is called widely "Miss Lindsey" has had a long and storied career in Washington DC without one single credible accusation of sexual impropriety, despite the ongoing best efforts of god only knows how many people who would like nothing better than to take him down with one.
Two things about that: One, reports of having had sex are not reports of sexual impropriety, and two, I submit to you that merely failing to engage in such shenanigans is not, in fact, enough for someone like him to avoid such accusations.
Lindsey Graham knows what he's doing. He has skills at keeping himself above such scandal, and I don't imagine those skills to have come easily or to be a lot of fun to employ. Successfully. For decades.
So when he used the treatment of a goddamn gropey drunk fratboy at his confirmation hearings to be a justice on the supreme court as his reasoning for bailing on his promises, I did feel the slightest bit disappointed by him.
He is still a goddamn war mongering traitor who has measurably harmed the republic and a faithful worker on the monster assembly line, but since I am a Democrat, that does not interfere with my ability to empathize with him as a human being.
My fervent wish is that he loses his election and is thereby run out of the US government forever, and thus never has to worry about such things for the rest of his days.
There are plenty of other things for us to make him worry about, none of which have to do with his alleged sex life, such as his behavior concerning the bedrock of our democracy and the goddamn Republicans very public plans to twist and subvert it.

You certainly proved that the Dems won’t roll over for Cheetolini, B. Lol.

No, B., you Politico article includes:

1) That Clinton says the D’s should fight if it’s close.

2) That the D’s are fighting to expand mail in voting

3) That the R’s are fighting to block the expansion.

4) No DNC or Biden related items in there.

In your favorite words, trying reading for comprehension.

Keep flailing, B. Funny how you couldn’t cite that article yesterday In time to keep your comment from being deleted.

Insisting that the non-incumbent side will not easily give up because
the incumbent has likely or is believed to have cheated is propper.

We aren't talking about if Biden will cheat his way in but if
the Cheato will if deemed to have lost will not fort up and
remain without his being duly elected.

Would the Cheato-in chief not be willing to exit invoke a lot of
things that is deserved of a criminal including not less than
being perp-walked to the door.

This has happened in many elections where the outcome deserved
to be questioned. This is not R or D right, it is the peoples
right to know the election was not corrupted.

B., did YOU read that article, because the sum total of suggestions of any Democratic action to overturn anything was one strategist, not associated with the DNC or any major candidate, saying they might try X. Meanwhile, the rest of the article talks of how the Democratic Party is organizing teams to ensure compliance with State laws on ballots and counting. This suggests that you consider the accurate counting of ballots to be cheating?

Dark Avenger said...

If a Republican doesn’t win an election, it’s obviously a case of cheating on the part of
The majority of the electorate.

B can't win the argument here in this forum with his lies, innuendo, half-truths, and mis-directions. His derangement with Trump (the REAL TDS) has affected his ability to discern reality.

It's those damn ballots' fault! Get rid of the ballots and there will be a smooth non-transition!

Sure thing, Fergus, except the part where the getting rid of the ballots transitions the country into a fascist autocracy.

Hah. Your arguments against my cites are weak and useless.

Sorry I was out having a life yesterday and didn't respond until the end of the day.

Both sides want to win. You have double standards. One for Trump and one for Slow Joe's side.

Why aren't you clamoring for Joe's side to promise a Peaceful acceptance if he loses? He and his folks have stated they will fight unless Joe (or Kamala?) wins. Anything else is a fight in the courts according to them.

I see it as proof that they already think they will lose.
Have at me, I'm out of this thread.

DTWND said...

Once again, but I guess he won’t see it, Biden NEVER said he’d contest the election. OTHERS say he should. Because he never said it, one can infer that he WOULD peacefully accept the results of the election. However, it is TRUMP who has threatened to contest the election. It is TRUMP who has NOT said he would peacefully accept the results of the election. If you do come back to peruse these comments, I hope you are not so brain dead as to not understand the difference. I guess that’s what TDS does to the right.

If I say that B should, say, rob a local minimart, is that the same as B not disavowing my advice, thereby showing that he will prolly rob a local minimart?

One more time with feeling: Joseph R. Biden Jr. is not the president of the United States of America, and in fact holds no office of power to illegally abuse in the quest for the presidency.
He could go to church and say to his god "I'm trying to cheat to win this election" and it would be no more of a threat than if I went outside and announced the same to the raccoons.
Fergus is indeed the president, and threats to abuse that power in order to remain in power are of an entirely different character, and need to be responded to with an entirely different level of seriousness.
Calling it a double standard is wrong because were the shoes on different feet the same dynamic would hold.

The raccoons would probably laugh as hard as God, they like a good joke as well as she does, I am sure.

I don't know if it's a harbinger, but the raccoons here are a lot more outgoing this year, one might say egregious. I chased two off the porch last night with my practice sword, one wouldn't leave until I tapped him on the nose with the pointy end. I blame it on the cat.

What’s the difference between a Trump supporter and a raccoon? One is an illiterate mammal that only lives by instincts and low animal cunning, the other is ..................

Ten Bears: Outgoing is putting it mildly. Those little fuckers have raided the composter every damn time we put anything even slightly edible in it (mold apparently acts as a seasoning for them) and far worse, they ate all of the mosquito eating fish out of the pond, so we are getting eaten alive by those little flying blood suckers.
I'd try to blame it on the cat, as he's usually guilty, but we've had to keep him inside at night since the neighbor caught a picture of a mountain lion on their wildlife cam, two days after they caught a picture of Littlebeast.
When he wants out at night these days, I tease him by calling him "Morsel" and "Snack" but on the serious side, the Creek fire is the largest wildfire in California history, and it's three or four ridges to the east of here, and that has the bears on the move. There have been three unnervingly large piles of bear scat right in the middle of the road this month.
