A blog by a "sucker" and a "loser" who served her country in the Navy.
If you're one of the Covidiots who believe that COVID-19 is "just the flu",
that the 2020 election was stolen, or
especially if you supported the 1/6/21 insurrection,
leave now.

If he was black they would need a street sweeper to pick all the brass and empty magazines. Since he is white he will probably be the guest of honor and speaker at the next Trump pep rally .
I would love to be able to say that this simply shows a cop acting correctly. It does show a “perp” who doesn’t “struggle” in any manner, but that’s nowhere near enough explanation for the startling difference in the approach of the cop. That being said, despite being inherently racist, the show Cops gave a solid look into how often a person being detained or arrested bolted or struggled, regardless of size, sex or race. Sadly, I must conclude that dan and Comrade are correct, and I have to simply hope the (believed) 90%+ of “good” cops move forward with cleaning up their ranks of the cowards, bullies and racists. Unfortunately, especially around here, I fear the number is a bit lower and the toll will continue for a while.
BadTux used to talk about the old cops, the mean, stick-wielding Irishmen that didn’t pull a gun If you were causing trouble. The problem is 40 years of cheap pistols and panic buying because “the ATF is coming to take your guns when X happens” has significantly increased the number of weapons involved in everyday altercations and interactions. Now that Irish cop would be shot, and cops are being trained as “warriors”, and that they need to be ready and willing to kill. It will take years to stuff this genie back into the bottle, if we can even do it.

Supreme Court rulings let the gun proliferation explode so now any untrained dickhead is well heeled. And not a fucking single one is in the militia either because that has not been a thing for a hundred years. If I was the one in the black robe I'd say "the 'well regulated militia is as dead as Kelsey's nuts. And so are your 'gun rights' under the 2nd amendment. Bring this case back to court when it can be shown that allowing every untrained and unhinged dickhead a deathstick advances the cause of national defence through improvement of the militia." Then maybe you'd get sensible gun laws so farmers and ranchers and Alaskans who need firearms can have access (after rigorous vetting, training, inspection and registration!) while they can be banned from metropolitan areas just as was done in the Old West. But we love love love our bangsticks too much for that to ever happen. And the oligarchical, plutocrat trumpite GOP, embodied by Moscow Mitch, ensures that no such change will ever happen.
Tod, the proliferation of guns is merely an aspect, as is the cultural willingness to use them. To a certain extent, with a growing population and growing population density, problems with guns were inevitable, but strict licensing and regulation is not a panacea. There is, however, something to the point about many Old Western towns having limits on firearms. Honestly, proper enforcement of current regulations would go far toward helping the current problems, but the horrific mishmash of authorities and rules makes proper compliance a crapshoot.
While I have little concern about some regulation, I do understand other people’s concerns and worries. I suspect that as we transition closer and closer to rats in cages, guns will have to fade away...so, perhaps the civil war they all talk about will solve the population problem first, if COVID doesn’t beat them to it.
There has to be a change in attitude and mentality toward guns to change the situation, if it is ever to change.
I don't live in the East Bay any more, but while I did, even with some of the most restrictive laws on the books, I could obtain pretty much any firearm you could think of in one, maybe two days, including an M60.
On the other hand, obtaining ammo for them is an entirely different question, although some of my friends pool their resources and order in bulk from out of state, legally or otherwise.

Right now, generic ball 9mm ammo is selling for $55 a box and up.
maybe y'all should look up the Militia Act of 1903 and read the definitions of 'militia' therein.
