Among First World nations, the US leads in coronavirus, with 20,366 cases per million people.

Here's one interesting statistic: The Canadians have had 243 deaths per million people. The US has had 601 deaths per million people. So if we had handled the pandemic as well as the Canadians, instead of 199,000 dead from Covid-19, 80,500 people would have died. That's tragic enough, but that's still over half fewer dead.

Do you know of two people who have died from the virus? If you were in Canada, one would be alive.

Canada has had a case rate of 3,650 per million people. So if you know three people who have had Covid-19, two of them would not have had it if they lived in Canada.

That's Trump's legacy: Cemeteries full of people who didn't need to have died and wouldn't have if he hadn't willfully closed his mind to what was going on. Because it's clear from Bob Woodward's reportage that Trump chose to ignore the pandemic and pretend that its going away, which he is still doing.

This was Trump in February. I've edited his blatherings, but you can read them in toto if you click on the link:
As most of you know, the — the level that we’ve had in our country is very low, and those people are getting better, or we think that in almost all cases they’re better, or getting. We have a total of 15. ... So we’re at the low level. As they get better, we take them off the list, so that we’re going to be pretty soon at only five people. And we could be at just one or two people over the next short period of time. So we’ve had very good luck.
It is now beyond dispute that Trump was lying as hard as he ever has when he said that. We know that Trump told Woodward that he had received a briefing from his National Security Adviser on January 28th that the coronavirus was the biggest national security threat that Trump would face.

And what did Trump do? He lied and has kept lying. Trump deliberately chose to let over a hundred thousand people die.

That's the difference from Bush's response to Hurricane Katrina: Bush shanked the response to Katrina out of sheer incompetence. Trump's response to the pandemic has been deliberate indifference.

Look at the obits. See two people who died of Covid-19. But for Trump, one would be alive. Trump, by his inactions, his trying to defeat the pandemic by tweeting and ignoring what was happening, has been responsible for more Americans being killed by Covid than were killed in both the Korean and Vietnam wars.

And yet his "people" refuse to see. So sad that fellow Americans can be so ignorant.
I see it as Murder, if not some other form of homicide. I really wonder if our excuse for a Government will ever agree with that?
Justice there would be a real change of pace.

My 93 year old daddy got a little misty eyed about trump landing at an airport near here in Sacramento, said "see, they're saying nice things to each other...". I thought, yes, everyone must grovel at the foot Caligula to get that federal money for their constituents lives and health and prosperity. So daddy's primed to vote trump, and he used to be a Southern Baptist (the slavery loving bunch, not the other baptists). So I said what I always say, "How about those Athletics this year?"
But he is almost 94 and born in Coffeeville, Alabama. What is the reason rural and religious Americans can keep voting for a monster? Why can't otherwise moral people and voters see the evil in this mass murderer, all done for his own profit and vainglory? But trump is always true to his social class and his money. In a democratic election with no Russian/facebook/fox propaganda trump should win 1% of American votes, his constituency. Because the rich have done very very well under trump, and have become vastly richer thanks to trump's genocidal but hugely profitable corona virus actions. So, a big win as always for the rich, super rich and...well, our owners.

120,000 counts of negligent homicide should be good for some time in prison.

Given his comments to Woodward about knowing the lethality and spreadability, plus his reaction to an Oval Office sneeze, I think negligent homicide would be out because of the deliberate nature of his actions. Awaiting your take on the MiG-29 and AK in the stock photo they used for “Support Our Troop” (snark writes itself).

I think the crime is when a government kills people its genocide.

When there is a bias due to age, economics or race it points
to genocide.

Trump should be tried for crimes mass murder, false imprisonment,
and neglect, against the people of the United States

As sure as handing out smallpox laced blankets to the natives, it's genocide.

Doug, it’s more insidious than that. It’s also “we don’t have to do anything about Covid because it’s a problem for Latinos and Blacks” thingie.
