Both have had creative recollections of war.
Brian Williams, as you know, about which helicopter he was riding in.
Bill O'Reilly first claimed to have been in the Falklands during that war, but now he seems to think that watching a loud protest march in Buenos Aires is the same as being in a combat zone.
NBC suspended Williams without pay for six months and, at this point, it's doubtful that he'll return to work.
Fox News has not only not suspended O'Reilly, they've given him lots of airtime to explain away (or double down) on his dubious claims.
The difference, of course, is that NBC News is a news organization that strives to maintain its credibility. Fox News is a propaganda outlet for the GOP and they don't give a fuck about credibility.

Fox News giving a fuck about their credibility would require that they have credibility to give a fuck about.

Also, too, Fox has the benefit of the most credulous audience in the industry. Since their viewers are convinced that all the other news outlets are lying to them, they are therefore equally convinced that Fox news is the only one telling them the truth, no matter how outrageous its lies.
Add in a strong echo-chamber confirmation bias ("I KNEW they would all attack BillO with there liberal lies") and you get an audience that cannot be dealt with rationally...
At least Mr Williams was in a war zone, eh ?
Not only was Mr. Williams in a war zone, he was in the same chain of helicopters that were hit by RPG fire. It's just that the RPG hit the helicopter three places in front of him, rather than his.
