I would feel a little more sympathetic to them if they condemned the atrocities Hamas perpetrated on October 7th. I would feel a little more sympathetic if they could spare a word for the civilian hostages that have been held since then, or for those who died in Hamas's custody.
But no, not a peep out of the kaffiyeh-klad klowns about any of that.
So color me unsympathetic. And if it takes a "whiff of grape" to break up the protests, I won't shed many tears. I well remember the Vietnam protests and they didn't win any friends. They were pretty masturbatory, in that they only made the protesters think that they were doing something.

By the same token, the anti-Pro-Palestinian protestors could comment about the Israeli Army matters and the settlers. Just saying, there's plenty of stuff to go all around in that part of the world these days.
I hate the violence, and deplore the covered face brigade, but to blanket accuse any protest of anti-Semitism is Faux News style framing.
Bennie is starting to remind me of "Il Duce", and I fear he may lead Israel down a similar path if cooler heads don't intervene.
Bibi is screwing the pooch. But there also was probably a great thirst in Israel for vengeance and he had to respond to that.

Students at Kent State got shot to death.
These protesters don't know what they are talking about. They are the privileged youth of America, and they like to play dress-up and wear keffiyeh. They are not helping anyone when they do this. They don't understand the history. They look like spoiled children. It is like a game or a diversion for them.
Where we were in history helps me understand these protests. I remember the Israel of the 1960’s, struggling to be a democracy in a hostile environment. Seeing the current Israel that evolved under the Likud party, I don’t recognize it. The kids protesting now only know the brutal country that Bibi leads. I may be forgetting something but I don’t see Golda or Rabin aggressively pursuing the illegal West Bank settlements. I hold out hope that my Israel is still there somewhere. Given all that has happened since then, it can’t re-emerge the same, but I fervently believe it would not turn the country into the international pariah it is becoming now.
My one act of participation in the '60s anti-war movement amounted to cutting 9th grade school one day and getting myself to the far town of Oakland somehow, to march around a building on the other side of the street from the induction offices. After an hour or so the uselessness became obvious, so I left by public bus and spent the day playing in the sprinklers at Cal Berkeley. I had friends who even got gassed on other occasions, but I just wasn't into that kind of abuse.

Richard, those protestors are, at least the serious ones, the kind of people who will change history. If the Rethugs get their way, and send in the troops, the protests will spread and strengthen. I wouldn’t be opposed.
