The state of Connecticut had an advanced program to help state Reservists and National Guardsmen deal with mental health issues and family problems arising from their service overseas.
The program is being cut back due to budget woes.
My feeling is that we, as a nation, ask these men and women to go for extended periods of time to dangerous places. We owe it to them to do whatever it takes to help them when they come home, for as long as it takes. We, as a nation, had no qualms about asking them to risk their health, we have a duty to them to aid them when they come back less-than hale and hearty.
Carping about the cost of veterans services is just mean-spirited. If it means that maybe we have to pay more in taxes, so be it.
