"What a Fucking Ride!"

A writer for "Air & Space" takes a ride in a B-25.

$500 and you can have the same fun. If you want more, you can get a second-in-command rating for a B-25 for $5,000. And if you are really flush with cash, you can get a full type-rating.

Beautiful image. Enviable hobby.

Wear impressive ear protection, though. Those props aren't very far from your ears.

Catch a ride $500. Learn to fly right seat $5000. If I could get them to fly over Rushbo's house and let me use that Norden to drop a couple of 500 lb bombs on him. Priceless.

Was a passenger in a B17 stunned at how small it was, and it was a giant in it's time...
I bet the B-25 was a helluva lot more fun!@

A decent computer, a good imagination and IL-2 Sturmovik goes a long way towards sating my warbird lust.

Did you get to fly in Aluminum Overcast?
Was a great B17 ride (1999) and yes it was pretty small. It was not as noisy as I expected and the view from the bombardier seat was spectacular. The Norden was still in place. I don't see how anyone could have bombed with any accuracy with that thing. I couldn't focus on anything and the ride was almost glass smooth. But it certainly was not in perfect or even normal condition either.

There are at least 2, probably 4 B-25's in the area as CAF toys. Getting close to one would be quite the political project, so I'm not real tempted by a $5k SIC. Just a little tempted.
