Uruguay has shifted its electricity production to 99% renewable (non-fossil) sources. The result was cheaper electricy, less poverty and more jobs.
But we're stuck with a demented president who is mentally stuck in the 1960s and who is suffering butthurt over his precious Scottish golf course, and with political parties that are rife with corruption and greed.

Fergus' obsession with fossil fuel only energy is ceding the renewable space to China. His adventure in Venezuela requires oil prices above the high-ish break even cost of dirty Venezuelan oil and its decrepit infrastructure.
Cheap and widely available renewables exert a downward pressure on the price of oil. This seems to be the hand China is playing. How they deal with their own interests in Venezuela remains to be seen, but I've read that they are basically smuggling rare-earth minerals out of Venezuela through Colombia.

E was one to remark on those people who voted for felon45 as idiots that sit in the dark on a pile of trash adding their own poop to it. They were those that panned most civilized things. Felon47 is one of those and his followers.
