During the second Trump administration, the population of migrants held at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities has exploded — from below 40,000 in January 2025 to over 73,000 today. Under the law, ICE is required to provide necessary medical care for this population.
While ICE employs some of its own medical staff, it often uses third-party providers. ICE’s Buffalo Federal Detention Facility, for example, houses over 500 detainees and has no doctor or dentist on staff.
ICE, however, has not paid any third-party providers for medical care for detainees since October 3, 2025. Last week, ICE posted a notice on an obscure government website announcing it will not begin processing such claims until at least April 30, 2026. Until then, medical providers are instructed “to hold all claims submissions.”
It is basic law and basic humanity that if someone is in custody, the custodial organization is responsible for their care. Denying medical care is not just a violation of a prisoner's rights, it's a crime against humanity. People get arrested and charged every freaking day for denying care to their animals; ICE refuses to treat human beings with the same level of care and concern that society demands from pet owners.
This will all come to an end one day for ICE. Fair warning, guys:
We the people of the United States, the ones who still believe in the rule of law and due process, outnumber those who don't.
Mark my words: We will be coming for you, from ICE Barbie and Temu Himmler all the way down to you anacephalic masked goons on the street

Note to ICE, one moment later that legal capture will be called armed assault
with battery and likely good for 15 years with adds.
Eck!
