"It's the Fault of the Cops That I Robbed That Bank Because They Weren't There to Stop Meeeee!

That is, basically, the twisted logic of Dolt 45:

Donald Trump has blamed Nancy Pelosi for the Capitol riots on January 6, repeating his unproven claim that she rejected his request for extra security.

The former president, who is in the midst of a House Committee probe over his role in the 2021 insurrection, said he tried to call in the National Guard prior to the Stop the Steal rally
.

There is no evidence that the Tool of Putin wanted to call in the National Guard. There is mounting evidence that as his insurrection progressed, all he did was watch it on television and soil his pants in glee. but hey, you can bet that as soon as The Russian Minion spoke that lie last night, all of the flying monkeys on the Right began repeating the lie.

Meanwhile, the Republican party has, one more, affirmed that they are a personality cult. They are also trying to recast the Insurrection as a normal and peaceful protest:

Republican Party officials on Friday voted to punish GOP Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for their work on the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection and advanced a rule change that would prohibit candidates from participating in debates organized by the Commission on Presidential Debates.

GOP officials took a voice vote to approve censuring Cheney and Kinzinger at the Republican National Committee’s winter meeting in Salt Lake City. On Thursday, members of an RNC subcommittee decided to advance the censure resolution against the pair instead of calling for their expulsion from the party.

The censure resolution accuses Kinzinger and Cheney of “participating in a Democrat-led persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse” — a striking description of the violent attack on the Capitol by supporters of then-President Donald Trump
.

Gee. There has been no shortage of Trumpanzees who have called for smashing the BLM protess with overwhelming force. The Master of Mar-a-Lago wanted to send in paratroopers to shoot them. But their own violent insurrection, which was aimed at overturning the election, was a peaceful protest in the eyes of the GOP.

So are we to assume that it would have met with Republican approval if the Capitol Police had broken out some M134s and hosed down the crowd as they ascended the steps of the Capitol?[1] Because that's what they are essentially arguing, that the Trumpist goons should have been served a whiff of grape.

Good to know.

Would have met with my approval ...

Let me get this straight. The RNC is censuring their own for participation on a committee that is looking into actions taken by individuals that took part in the said actions on January 6, 2021. And the RNC is arguing these individuals committed “legitimate discourse” by breaking windows, smearing feces on walls, attacking the capitol police, entering restricted areas, taking documents from the desks of elected officials, chanting for the hanging of the Vice-President, and removing a pedestal among other things?

At least Pence, or his handlers, had sense enough to say TFG was wrong about the VP having the authority to nullify the election.

We are living in bizarro world.

Let me try to wrap my mind around this. 800 or so "loving and happy" celebrants that half-destroyed our Capital Building, even smearing their poop on the walls, and which resulted in 6 deaths, are "fine people". But 2 senators that spoke up for sanity need to be censured?
We really went down the rabbit hole this time.
Up is down, and down is up?
