Epic Trolling

It seems that there's far-right political commentator in England named Katie Hopkins. A young guy name of Josh Pieters set up a fake advocacy group, the Cape Town Collective For the Freedom of Speech, and flew Hopkins to Praque to give her the "Campaign to Unify the Nation Trophy", complete with an awards dinner.

You can probably discern the acronym. Hopkins couldn't.

I googled around for her reaction when she found out she'd been had...no results yet.

While I’m no fan of the odious character that she is, I can’t feel good about this approach. Once again, we are attacking a woman in a manner that we would not a man, perhaps because she is a woman as much as because we disagree with her. I’m going to do something I haven’t before, and say I’m disappointed in Comrade Misfit for featuring what strikes me as misogyny, but am certainly open to an explanation of why I’m wrong.

CP88,

8:15 into the video, Hopkins says: "Epileptics are all weirdos, they're up there with the Asians."

I have a relative who has epilepsy as a result of a closed-head injury, not just a regular concussion. As far as I'm concerned, there is nothing in the English language that is nasty enough or vile enough to fairly describe Katie Hopkins.

That Trump and his ilk like her is just icing on a cake of putrid shit and offal.

The Citizens United (of dark money fame) Included "not timid"in a deft display of subtle humor. It was intended to throw shade on then-candidate Hillary Clinton. That turd needed some polishing before heading to the Supreme Court.

Comrade, I fully agree with your sentiment. However, calling women bitches, cunts, whores, etc, is a tried and true formula for keeping women “in their place”. This was intended, I understand, as a stunt to make her look stupid and weak. Unfortunately, it used a tried and true method of marginalizing and debasing a woman, which is why I’m surprised you posted it, regardless of her stupidity and venality. Her position is one common to the right, and should be exposed, but in a more intelligent manner, in my opinion.

I certainly hope your relative has found a successful regime to control their neural damage, and that they don’t have to worry about such idiotic statements much longer.

CP88, sadly, no. This is looking to be a chronic/lifetime condition. Katie Hopkins, on the other hand, chose to be a vile, hateful, racist. She deserves whatever opprobrium is directed her way.

I don't want to be too pedantic, but the word c*nt in British slang is used by both men and women, in reference to men or women, and does not have nearly the insult-impact and weight it does in American or Canadian usage.
They use the term more in the sense of a stupid, offensive, ignorant person, which fits Katie Hopkins quite well (though perhaps it doesn't go far enough, she really is awful).

Brian Train, true enough, but this is a U.S. focused blog and the connotations taken are the U.S. ones. I’ve never figured the huge gulf between the usages, but they are there and such is life.

Let’s see, Traitor Donald falls his opponents all sorts of terrible names, but use a common(for the British) insult on a conservative, and it’s time to drag out the fainting couch.
