Is Bill Barr Greasing His Own Skids?

Attorney General William Barr publicly swiped at President Donald Trump on Thursday, declaring the president’s tweets about Justice Department prosecutors and open cases “make it impossible for me to do my job.”

Barr made the comment during an interview with ABC News just days after his Justice Department overruled its own prosecutors — who had recommended in a court filing that Trump’s longtime ally and confidant Roger Stone be sentenced to 7 to 9 years in prison — and took the extraordinary step of lowering the amount of prison time it would seek. The department didn’t offer an amended number.
First off, one would have to be a little light in the loafers to believe that, by changing the sentencing recommendation for the convicted felon known as Roger Stone, that Barr was not doing Trump's bidding.

If I were a gambler, I'd wager that Barr would have kept is Trump-kissing aperture closed if the prsecutors in the Stone case had not publicly quit the case.

Trump also slammed the judge who is hearing the Stone case. Stone could be sentenced to over 50 years in prison; it would not surprise me overly much if the judge takes the view that Stone has been completely unrepentant and sends him away for twenty years, a sentence that will end on November 4th, when Trump will pardon Stone, Flynn and the rest of his criminal cronies.

Trump's authoritarianism is on full display in both the Stone case and his recent airing of his grievances: He believes his criminal allies should be given free rein and he wants everyone he doesn't like prosecuted on trumped-up charges.

But to get back to the headline: The number one crime in Trumpland is to criticize Trump. Barr did so in public. One would reasonably expect him to be gone in the near future.

Also, this.

Nobody lasts long as a trump toadie, no matter how obsequious a boot tounging lick spittle lackey they are. But in Barr's case I think it's a clever trumpist 'plan'. "See how independent I am?" Barr's job is safe for a while.

Just maybe its Bar annoyed that Impotus is messing with things
he's trying to do on the QT even though its what his handler
may have desired such dastardly deeds done.

No the the Impotus in chief can't plan, he plot, sloppily.

It’s rather sad when the toady is more competent than his Godfather.

Back in the day, when getting logs out of the woods and down to the sawmill to make boards for houses and civilization!, greasing one's own skid was tantamount to throwing one's self under the bus. Not criticism of your headline, I'm an Old Logger, get a good chuckle out of both the idiom and that someone would use it. And, it may well be exactly what he's done wittingly or no.

They called 'em grease monkeys. Usually youngsters, had a pretty high mortality rate.

The base is NOT happy. Barr was supposed to have issued indictments by now. Clinton, Obama, Comey, the FB&I, the entire demoncraptic party, Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, MSNBC, CN&N, every lyin socialistic communist, HE'S PART OF THE SWAMP! But it's ok the president will fix him. You just wait until he appoints Sean Hannity as the attorney general. Then we'll see some action. (This stuff writes itself you just have suspend disbelief and go into a McDonald's at about 730 am and listen to the 70-80 year olds from the "greatest generation" I tried to point out to father in law that the greatest generation is between 95- and 105 give or take, but he ain't buyin it)

We seem to have lost all 3 branches of Government to a cult. Even the news is mostly one-sided now.
I try not to be a doomsday believing kind of person, but what the hell can we do, short of actual war?
Even our elections are now compromised by a foreign power.
Short of kissing our democratic asses goodbye, are there any ideas of how to beat this quiet civil war going on around us?
Personally, I am giving up the news for detective novels. At least in those the Bad Guy loses and actually goes to jail.

You can tell that Barr's statements were coordinated with Fergus by the lack of tweeted outrage about them by Fergus.
