Trump Tries Working the Refs

President Donald Trump on Sunday resumed tweeting against the judge who blocked his executive order on immigration, blaming the court system "if something happens" that could put the U.S. in "peril."

"Just cannot believe a judge would put our country in such peril. If something happens blame him and court system. People pouring in. Bad!" he tweeted Sunday afternoon in reference to Judge James Robart, a district court judge based in Washington state.
Mitch McConnell is a bit more experienced (or smarter):
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Sunday distanced himself from President Donald Trump's positions on Russia, voter fraud and the travel ban, while criticizing the president for attacking a federal judge.

"It is best not to single out judges," McConnell told Jake Tapper on CNN's "State of the Union. "We all get disappointed from time to time. I think it is best to avoid criticizing them individually."
So far, the courts aren't paying any heed to Trump's hissy fits on Twitter.
A federal appeals court early Sunday morning denied the US government's emergency request to resume President Donald Trump's travel ban.
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has asked for both sides to file legal briefs before the court makes its final decision after a federal judge halted the program on Friday.
What McConnell realizes, and Trump apparently does not, is that the judiciary is independent and they have lifetime appointments. Federal judges don't tend to look with favor upon those who try to browbeat them. Trump may ultimately win this one, but look for signs of judicial displeasure along the way.

If it's a close question for the judges (on this and other matters), Trump might even lose where, if he'd kept his yap shut and his short fingers off Twitter, he might have won.

Wouldn't that be a little too much like diplomacy for his tastes?
