As If This Wasn't Wholly Predictable

Reid: Blagojevich appointee may ultimately get Senate seat.

No surprise, there. Harry Reid could be rolled by a three-year-old girl with a water pistol.

JAE-BM: I agree with you that Harry Reid can be rolled by a stiff breeze. Thankfully, so can Barack Obama. I hold both men beneath contempt, but then I live in a country which is a functioning republic, not a Theocracy. Over the last 4 1-2 years, President Torrijos has had his heavy-handed moments mostly related to arcane eminent domain issues and each time the press called him out and each time he relented. Otherwise, he's been pretty good. And I still don't know what his religious beliefs if any are.

The constitution is pretty clear on what Governor Blagojevic's and Senator-appointee Burris's rights are. It is also clear on how much leeway a Senate has in acting in concert, in advance of a vote. That's why Judicial Watch, a conservative group, was happy to join Blagojevich, Burris and Rush in their Federal complaint. That's why the judge saw merit in the complaint. That's why Obama turned from oligarchic gangster into Mr Civil Rights and LOUDLY DEMMANDED that "obstructionist" Reid sit Burris. This Obama's a real Dr King, isn't he?

The view from outside America is very revealing. As none of these characters really affect me except if Obama wants to make mischief in my part of the world, I can take a longer view of it.

This is what I've been noticing under the radar. Obama is settling into position to be a comfortable caretaker of the George W. Bush legacy. The African-American electorate which White Americans think is so monolithic and unthinking is anything but that. Obama is losing his love there by the minute. Engaged African-Americans are taking second looks at other progressive Democrats and libertarian Republicans as having their interests based on rationally watching Obama's appointments and hearing his words.

If there are 3 or more theaters of war under President Obama, and stagflation eating away at the carcass of the economy, all intelligent Americans will be looking for a real purveyor of change instead of this clown.

That will leave a sad little minority of Guilty White Liberals and Republican Jackasses crying in the corner.

The rest of the world will laugh but also breathe easier.
