"I Christen Thee...."

They're going to christen the latest Royal Spawn in July.

They probably won't do it this way:


The ship was HMS Vanguard, the last battleship built in the world. In her short career, she apparently never fired a shot in combat.

The Vanguard actually had a main battery of four 15" twin turrets that was recycled from late WWI-era ships and technically a modestly upgraded version of the gun of the first super dreadnoughts (QE and R classes, 1916). The British had designed one much more powerful 16" gun (Nelson & Rodney) and a much more accurate 14" gun (KGV class) later, so the Vanguard's main battery was obsolete.

On the other hand, the RN did complete Vanguard because they used those surplus gun turrets. Ships of the Lion class never made it to completion.
