A snowy owl at VINS:
If you find yourself near the junction of I-91 and I-89, go up I-89 a short jaunt to Quechee, Vermont and visit VINS.

Owls are scary quiet...

Sorry. Actually, that's a Barn Owl (Tyto Alba) not a Snowy Owl (Nyceta Scandiaca).
Bear
Good eye bear, of course the correct modern identification of the snowy owl is debated since it was reclassified Bubo scandiaus after DNA testing showed it to be moved to the horned owl family. Some still prefer Nuceta scandiaca.
Boy I need to check my Rx on these glasses...Nyceta vice Nuceta...sorry!
I was pretty sure that they said it was a snowy owl. Whatever, you should go visit VINS. At their raptor show, one of the hawks skims over the audience. It is very impressive.
Comrade, sounds like a similar show to that at Scarborough Faire in the Dallas area. Last Chance Forever (lastchanceforever.org) is the group that does it...very impressive.
